No specific price target for the year`s end.
Too much depends on whether:
(1) The Pentium 4 benchmarks out as the hottest thing around, finally showing
the power of RDRAM.
(2) Whether DDR continues to stall
(3) Whether Hyundai and Infineon settle (I believe they will)
I do believe the odds are more overwhelming for RDRAM than ever (as I also said
yesterday).
The noise problems expected from DDR because of the large voltage swings in short
times (large dE/dt) is now fact. We surely have not heard the last
of these problems. The traces on the motherboards start to act
as radio attenanae. (Übersetzung: die vielen Leiterbahnen auf dem Motherboard scheinen als Antenne zu arbeiten)
Intel`s support really is rock-solid despite the claims. Their statement that
they will take advantage of DDR sometime in 2002 if it becomes mainstream (while stalling Via on a DDR/P4 license)
shows that they think they are winning.
Intel would never opt to wait on AMD and Via unless they
thought the latter were driving into a deadend.
If a valid counterclaim could be found against Rambus`s patents, we would have
heard by now.
Meanwhile the anti-Rambus team has overplayed its hand.
After convincing half the world that Intel was about to abandon Rambus,
they have lost credibility on that trick.
Two fellow scientists at work that I had convinced to buy
RMBS were astonished to find out from me this morning that
no, Intel was still coming out with the Pentium 4 as RDRAM only.
In other words, Rambus is clearly winning on both fronts, marketplace
and legal, yet most of the world doesn`t have a clue.
That is a recipe for strong gains.
So wie es aussieht, sind wir mit dem Thema lauffähige DDR Boards noch nicht am Ende (oder sollte ich sagen Start?).
Besonders gefällt mir der Satz mit der Antenne.
Wenn die DDR-SDRAM Boards nicht stabil laufen,dann kann man seinen Athlon immer noch zum Empfang von Radio Niedersachsen gebrauchen (der bevorzugte Sender der AMDroiden).
Nach den vielen Beileidsbesuchen (oder war es Schadenfreude?) am Montag und Dienstag bei uns in den Rambus Boards, musste ich das einfach loswerden.
