From Peter Kertes of the Alert Investor newsletter, commenting on one of his previous picks: Spatializer Audio Labs (SPAZ, 44c), broke down to a new year 2000 low despite the launch with 4Front Technologies, a leader in digital audio solutions for Linux and UNIX platforms, of StreamFX for Linux, a software plug-in for XMMS. XMMS is a cross platform MP3 and Multimedia player that has become the most popular audio application on Linux and now comes bundled with all popular Linux distributions, such as Corel, Mandrake and Red Hat Linux. Henry Mandell, CEO of SPAZ: "The availability of StreamFX on the Linux platform, tied to XMMS, the de facto MP3 and Multimedia player for the Linux environment, provides a very compelling audio package for the growing Internet Appliance market. We can now aggressively market a turnkey enhanced audio solution for these devices, many of which rely on the Linux OS. This also gives us another product to offer in e-commerce, which we will be focusing more attention on and refining our approach to in 2001."
