South Korea-Based E-Commerce Pioneer eWeb21 Presents New Paradigm With The Use Of Intershop Enfinity
SEOUL, South Korea, Dec. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- eWeb21 Corp. (OTC Bulletin Board: EWTO - news) announced today its launch of its new e-commerce store in South Korea to be followed by launches in Japan, Australia, China, Taiwan and Europe with the use of Intershop Communications, Inc.`s (Nasdaq: ISHP - news; Neuer Markt: ISH) flagship product Enfinity.

Intershop`s Enfinity has received top marks from Forrester Research, Inc. (Nasdaq: FORR - news). Forrester`s recently announced eBusiness TechRankings places Intershop first among commerce platforms. Forrester`s eBusiness TechRankings contains detailed, objective research to help companies select and implement the best technology for their eBusiness initiatives. eBusiness TechRankings` continuous research combines product testing results and market analysis to help firms understand rapidly changing technology markets, accelerate and improve product selection, and effectively gauge implementation costs and effort. According to Forrester`s analysis, ``Intershop`s Enfinity 1.1 offers rich commerce functionality, especially with order processing and marketing. The vendor bundles a powerful analysis engine (Cognos) and provides free adapters to personalization software (Net Perceptions and Autonomy). Enfinity`s underlying application server gives it top-notch database connection pooling and transaction management.``

Since Forrester`s evaluation of the Intershop Enfinity 1.1 product, Intershop has released Enfinity 2. This latest version of the product offers even greater performance and scalability, and more pre-packaged integrations that connect Enfinity to marketplaces and business systems, such as SAP, PeopleSoft, Oracle, and Siebel. Enfinity 2 is expected to be evaluated by Forrester Research in 2001. Pursuant to eWeb21`s agreement with Intershop, eWeb21 is entitled to all Enfinity product upgrades.

Enfinity offers eWeb21 advanced online selling features, which enable e-commerce transactions through a wide variety of complex business models. It enables eWeb21 to centralize its global operations in South Korea while allowing customers in any country to have shopping experiences in their native language and currency. Enfinity also enables the eWeb21website to become highly scalable (capable of growing to support a multitude of additional users simultaneously, without system slowdown).

Paul Lambert, eWeb21 Corp.`s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, said, ``We have been seeking a web-enabled platform scalable enough to handle thousands of orders, yet flexible enough to meet continually changing business requirements. We believe that we have found this through Intershop`s Enfinity.``

Management of eWeb21 is also excited about the powerful profiling capabilities that Enfinity will provide to it. While eWeb21 has assembled much customer information in its database, until its use of Enfinity, it could not effectively capitalize on it. Enfinity`s highly defined customization allows eWeb21 to utilize its database of customer profiles to more effectively market its products and services based on customers` buying habits and personal information.

Charlie Oh, President of eWeb21 added, ``Enfinity`s level of engineering will allow us to introduce powerful profiling techniques. We plan to launch new Enfinity stores in Japan, Australia, China, Taiwan, UK, and Germany early next year.``

Intershop Enfinity also empowers eWeb21 to handle complex procurement operations. This system implements sophisticated sorting functions that segregate products of a particular vendor from various multi-product orders submitted by various eWeb21 clients. One list of the vendor specific products is immediately assembled for submission to the vendor and fulfillment. When describing the benefits that Intershop`s technology would bring to eWeb21, Dieter Neujahr, Intershop`s Vice President for the Asia-Pacific region, stated, ``Enfinity is an advanced e-business application that provides the fundamental backbone for enabling e-commerce, as well as the quickest deployment time. It is uniquely capable of tackling some of the biggest challenges of online selling, including support for multi-language, multi-currency, B2B transactions as well as international tax calculations.``

About eWeb21 Corp.

eWeb21 Corp. originated under the concept of a ``customer oriented Internet business.`` eweb21 believes it has created an exciting and potentially profitable opportunity through the combined dynamics of person-to-person marketing and the Internet. eWeb21 has aligned its business activities to two significant trends -- the Internet and home-based business opportunities. The company provides software and services to independent international service centers, which utilize affinity marketing to build brand awareness in the countries in which they operate. Affinity marketing is essentially a word of mouth referral system utilized to form a community of cyberdealers. eWeb21`s services and products are aimed at its affinity members or cyberdealers to create their own Internet Web sites and to purchase or sell to end-users a broad variety of products. The affinity marketing strategy allows technology to be driven into homes and offices using the ``high touch`` approach of one-to-one recommendation and with the ``shared profit`` approach in order to create a highly motivated sales force. The company has developed what it believes to be a proven model in the Asian Pacific region and seeks to replicate it in Europe and other areas of the world. eWeb21 Corp. is headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. The company has agency relationships with seven service centers spanning the three continents of Asia, Australia and Europe. eWeb21`s distributor base approaches 100,000 cyberdealers.
