SCH targets over 20 pct net CAGR from Latin American ops in 2006-2009
MADRID (AFX) - Banco Santander Central Hispano SA (Nachrichten/Aktienkurs) said it is targeting over 20 pct net compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in 2006-2009 from its Latin American operations.

In a presentation to investors on its Latin American business, SCH director Francisco Luzon said the bank is forecasting 20-25 pct growth in net profit in 2007.

In series of separate statements on the outlook for the bank's LatAm operations in 2006-2009, SCH said it expects its Mexico active client base to rise to 8.4 mln in 2009 from an estimated 5.1 mln in 2006.

The bank said it aims to build on its client base in the country by stepping up marketing of consumer credit, insurance and credit cards.

In Brazil, SCH said it aims to raise its client base to 11.2 mln in 2009 from an estimated 7.6 mln in 2006.

The bank said it expects the Brazilian economy to grow at a moderate rate amid 'great stability and sustainability,' and added that 'in this environment, we expect an intense growth in demand from the financial sector, backed by a favourable regulatory framework.'

In Argentina, SCH said it expects its client base to grow 40 pct to 2.4 mln in 2009 from an estimated 1.7 mln in 2006, with business volumes (including loans and savings business) increasing 2.5 times in 2006-2009.
