UPDATE: Bush Says Problems With Iran Can Be Solved Diplomatically

WASHINGTON (Dow Jones) -- President Bush said he is not seeking to expand the
Iraq war "beyond the borders" to confront Iran.
"We believe we can solve our problems with Iran diplomatically and are
working to do so," Bush said in a brief question-and-answer session with
reporters in the Oval Office.
Bush was asked to comment on a report in Friday's Washington Post that he has
authorized the U.S. military to kill or capture Iranian operatives inside Iraq
as part of an aggressive new strategy to weaken Tehran's influence in the
region.
The president did not comment directly on the report, but said his policy was
to protect the troops in Iraq.
"If somebody is trying to harm our troops, or stop us from achieving our
goal, or killing innocent citizens in Iraq, we will stop them. Some are trying
to say that because we are enforcing helping ourselves in Iraq...that we want
to expand this beyond the borders. That is a presumption that is not accurate,"
Bush said.
