Nach den im Thread: David Mbox: Gut im Rennen gegen die Goliaths Nokia, Panasonic, Microsoft usw. ? benannten Quellen kommen m.E. für die „vier Boxen-Hersteller“ eigentlich nur die dortigen „Vorreiter“ in Betracht. Als da wären: 1. Motorola / GI mit DCT 5000+ ( Streamaster ) 2. Scientific Atlanta mit Explorer 6000+ 3. Pace Micro mit DSL 4000 4. Metabox mit Phoenixreihe Mbox 1000+ Die Siemens PC-Boxen haben in Cottbus und Leipzig auf ganzer Linie versagt und sind mit gut über 2000,-- DM schlicht zu teuer. Nokia gab gerade erst bekannt, MHP iTV Settops für "Ende 2001" zu entwickeln. Im Übrigen betont Callahan „nicht mit Kirch“. Die d-boxen wurden bisher überwiegend von Nokia hergestellt. -------------------------------------------------------------- Callahan arbeitet bezüglich des Netzes etc. bereits jetzt mit Motorola und Scientific Atlanta zusammen. ( 1. Scientific Atlanta Europe GmbH (Kronberg) Infrastruktur-Komponenten: “provide HFC technology and professional services in support of Kabel NRW`s network upgrade”, 2. Motorola Broadband Communications ( Bad Salzdetfurth ): “optische und Breitbandkabel-Komponenten” ) Naheliegend, dass man daher MOT und SFA ein gewisses “Vorschuss“-Vertrauen zubilligen muss. Detaillierteres zum jeweiligen Settop Boxen Entwicklungsstand im erwähnten Thread. Kurz aus HPs: 1. Motorola thin-client DCT 2000 and fat-client DCT 5000+ “…developing an overdue Java box” 2. Die Metabox 1000+, die m.E. preislich und technisch keineswegs die uninteressanteste ist. Deren „Massenfähigkeit“ ist aber noch nicht bewiesen.
