SWC12.08, +0.17, +1.4%) said Tuesday union employees at its Stillwater Mine and Columbus processing facilities, represented by the USW International Union Local 11-0001, failed to ratify a new labor agreement reached on July 2. The union has called for a strike to begin tomorrow, Billings, Mont.-based Stillwater said. "We intend to return to the negotiating table as soon as possible and are hopeful that an acceptable agreement can be reached," said Stillwater Chairman and Chief Executive Frank McAllister in a statement. Shares of Stillwater, a palladium and platinum producer, fell 2 cents to $11.89 in Tuesday afternoon trade.
