More than two-thirds of the oil discovered in the United States to date remains in the ground, much of it stranded after primary production methods have run their course. Of the 34 billion barrels of original oil in place in the rich Rocky Mountain region approximately 23 billion barrels will be left behind after the traditionally recoverable oil is produced. As energy needs rise, reliance on foreign oil increases, and oil prices reach record highs, enhanced oil recovery technology is enabling innovative oil companies to profitably produce bypassed resources beneath American soil. Ameriwest Energy Corp. targets underdeveloped stores of oil stranded in Wyoming and Utah’s prolific reservoirs, leveraging leading edge recovery methods and local geological expertise to meet the rising demand for oil.
Ameriwest Energy has secured a 99.5% working interest in the South Glenrock C oilfield in Wyoming’s oil-rich Powder River Basin. The company is working to deploy a CO2 injection program to develop an estimated 4.4 million barrels of oil. The producing prospect is geologically analogous to nearby Salt Creek field, which is currently benefiting from a successful CO2 injection program by the Anadarko Petroleum Corporation.
Ameriwest Energy has signed a Letter of Intent to acquire a 100% working interest in the Skull Valley Prospect in Tooele County, Utah. Skull Valley is a high potential, extensively mapped exploration play with a projected resource target of 25 to 35 million barrels of oil. Geochemical surveys have identified a near surface soil gas anomaly similar in composition and magnitude to the geologically analogous Grant Canyon Field in Nevada, site of the most prolific single producing onshore well in the U.S.
