Und hier noch eine frische Meldung aus der Copenhagen Post: http://www.cphpost.dk/get/109216.html The investment bank will let go over 300 as part of a streamlining plan Saxo Bank announced Monday that the investment bank would be firing approximately one third of its workforce as a result of what its managing director attributed to the bank's 'overreaching' in certain areas. The cuts come as Saxo, Denmark's fourth largest investment bank, is poised to post its most successful year ever, with 2008 profits already at 310 million kroner. The bank has also opened new offices recently in London, Geneva, Zurich and Singapore. But Erik Rylberg, Saxo's co-managing director, said the new plan was necessary to optimise operations and would include more outsourcing, better use of technology and a simpler organisational structure. Employees in the bank's financial and business operations have little to worry about, however, as sources say the layoffs will primarily affect the bank's service employees, such as in the cafeteria, reception and security divisions. Despite the record profits, Kaspar Elbjørn, the bank's head of communications, told financial daily Børsen that Saxo's operating costs have become too great. Elbjørn also denied that the cutbacks were related to the global financial crisis, saying the streamlining plan had been in the works for nearly seven years. In addition to the layoffs in Denmark, around 50 employees in the UK will reportedly also be let go. (rc) Der Verschlankungsplan hat nichts mit der Finanzkrise zu tun, sondern man arbeitet daran seit fast sieben Jahren. Das klingt wie Hohn. Zudem sollen ja in erster Linie Stellen in der Cafeteria, am Empfang und bei dem Wachschutz(?) wegfallen. Vermutlich Auslagerung an externe Dienstleister. Dass man dafür sieben Jahre gebraucht hat ist schon bemerkenswert. Der Wandel mag mit der Veränderung an der Unternehmensspitze in Gang gekommen sein.
