During the same period a year ago, Sun earned $89 million, or 10 cents a share, on sales of $3.22 billion. Excluding one-time items, the computer server and software company would have lost $65 million, or 9 cents a share, on $3.22 billion in sales. The loss was greater than what the company forecast when it gave preliminary results on Oct. 20. Sun said that it's results were affected by a $1.45 billion charge for goodwill impairment and $63 million in restructuring charges |
