Ohio’s Lt. Governor Lee Fisher will join the Girindus "G.L.O.S." Symposium end of March 2009

Girindus, a service provider to the pharmaceutical industry and a leading manufacturer of therapeutic oligonucleotides, is now providing additional information about its first Girindus Leadership in Oligonucleotides Symposium (G.L.O.S.) March 31 and April 1 in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. This inaugural event will showcase high level technical talks from leaders in the oligonucleotide field, and is aimed to become one of the ”must-attend” meetings for members of the oligonucleotide community.

Martin Weiland, member of the management board of Girindus AG, (News/Aktienkurs) is pleased to announce the attendance of Ohio’s Lt. Governor Lee Fisher at the event, stating, ”We are grateful to be in a period of growth and expansion, and for the support of the local government, especially in these challenging economic times.”

The event will be sponsored, in part, by the Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce. Other sponsors include IBC Tides, EMD, Chemgenes, and Technikrom.

As already published Girindus will unveil its US $ 5.2 Mio. expansion wing, as well as an oligonucleotide ”Wall of Fame” during the two day event. A networking dinner will be held at the observation deck of the Cincinnati zoo to close the first day.

Keynote speaker Dr. Marvin Caruthers of the University of Colorado at Boulder will be presented with the first Girindus Leadership in Oligonucleotides Award honoring his significant contributions to the field. Dr. Kelvin Ogilvie, inventor of the Gene Machine, will give a keynote address on the first 50 years of oligonucleotide synthesis.

Dr. Mark Laskovics, President and COO of Girindus America Inc., adds, ”This event will not only showcase the city of Cincinnati, but also serve as an excellent meeting of the minds of all the ”who’s- who” in the oligonucleotide community. We are very pleased with the response thus far.”

Registration is free for the two day symposium. Attendees can visit GirindusGlos.com or contact Rose Hawkins at RHawkins@girindus.com, +1-513-679-3031 for more information and to register for this event, to be held March 31 - April 1 2009 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
