hallo
Gerade aus dem YHOO board geklaut:

Power generators are mixed into the close as the FERC appears poised to order that all power sold into the Western power grid be subject to a soft price cap set by the cost of production by the least efficiient provider. The order requires anyone selling power above the calculated price to file a "justification petition" with FERC or be subject to a refund order from FERC.

The formula is adjusted for gas prices into the California market and has adjustments for fuel start-up costs and credit quality. Overall, while it does put a ceiling on power prices in the West, it is unlikely to put a big dent in profits of the independent generators. The price cap provide plenty of room for profits and does not apply to bilateral contracts already in place.

More importantly, the order likely difuses any immediate Congressional action trying to force FERC to act. That is a net positive for the gencos. The order provides some certainty going forward.

Hmmm. (s.o.)

grüsse Andy
