HINDUSTAN PETROLEUM LAUNCHES HP SMART 1 CARD Visakhapatnam, 31st March 2001: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd., India`s leading Integrated Refining & Marketing Corporation with a turnover of of Rs. 26,000 crore, launched its unique HP Smart1 Value Card today in Bangalore. The residents of Bangalore are the first in the country to enjoy the benefits of this card, which was launched by Mr. N.K. Puri CGM, HPCL. The HP Smart 1 gives the cardholder more value for money by way of upto 5% rewards on spends with a minimum load amount of Rs. 250 and no upper limit. The card can be used to fill petrol at HP petrol stations, buy lubricants and pay for servicing of cars and two wheelers. Over and above, through HPCL`s tie up with leading establishments, it can be used to make purchases at super markets. Speaking on the launch of the Smart 1 Card, in Bangalore, Shri S.K. Kapoor, Director Marketing, HPCL, said, "As of now HP Smart1 will offer the best value for money to the consumers. Unlike other cards currently available in the market, HP Smart1 Card stands out because of the extra money power it carries with its Frequent Filler Advantage TM. Given its unique nature and the value addition it provides to the card holders through rewards, HP Smart1 will be the most powerful and convenient e-purse for a consumer." Bangalore is only the beginning, we look forward to launching this card all over India. The release of this card, with its main application of customer access points in petrol stations, has generated considerable interest among other service providers to include their applications on the cards. These applications include medical information, retail chains, utility and telephone companies, leisure activities, mass transit ticketing and more. The rewards collected from spends will be given in the form of Smartsmiles. For instance, the cardholder earns 5 Smart Miles for every Rs. 100 worth of petrol purchased and 50 Smartmiles for every Rs. 100 worth of car servicing undertaken. Smart1 will soon be available across the counter at select HP Petrol stations in Bangalore. Speaking about the HP Smart card, Mr. Puri said " Our card enables users to easily and instantly redeem the Smartmiles earned. There are no cumbersome procedures to be followed for redemption. The Smartmiles can be instantly redeemed for rewards at participating HP petrol stations, such as petrol, lubricants, tyres, batteries, car servicing etc. The cards are based on Contact Less Technology of On Track Innovations Ltd.
