Order Focus: Solarwatt selects Bürkle’s Ypsator lamination tool for new module plant
21 December 2009 | By Mark Osborne | News > PV Modules

Having placed a turnkey c-Si module production line with Kuka Systems in May, 2009, Solarwatt has now ordered two Multi-Opening ‘Ypsator’ lamination lines from Bürkle. The new line for Solarwatt's new factory near Dresden, will increase the company's production capacity by 150MW and is expected to come online in the first half of 2010. Bürkle is shipping the tools before the end of the year.

According to Bürkle, Solarwatt and Kuka Systems are establishing a unique line concept with 2 simultaneously operated 10-opening laminators. The planning and testing of this setup was said to have taken 6 months.

The new line configuration is claimed to enable the lamination a solar module every 28 seconds in a 3-shift operation on a footprint of only 100 m².

Solarwatt’s new complete production line is set to occupy an area of 3,800 m² and brings its nameplate capacity to 300MW.
