Aviva reports 895Mt coal reserve at Mmamantswe
Aviva Corporation Ltd says a report by SRK Consulting outlines a probable run-of-mine reserve of 895Mt producing suitable power station feedstock of 300Mt from the Mmamantswe coal project in Botswana.
The report is the culmination of a reserve upgrade drilling program, coal quality study, coal preparation study and scoping study commissioned in 2008 to convert half the 1.3bt resource to reserves.
CEO Lindsay Reed said that to achieve almost 70% conversion from resources to probable run of mine reserves exceeded expectations. "The strong reserve position, together with an 8GL per annum water resource and outstanding infrastructure confirms Mmamantswe as a very attractive fuel source for an independent power project," he said.
