Pacnet auf Kurs Negativ: Weiterhin Verluste (aber im Rahmen) Positiv: Endlich mal wieder Umsatzsteigerung von 37% Fazit: Abwarten und teetrinken --------------------------------------------------------- PacNet Q2 net loss widens on year SINGAPORE, Aug 14 - Singapore-based Internet service provider Pacific Internet Ltd said on Tuesday it posted a second quarter net loss of US$3.1 million, compared to a loss of US$2.9 million a year ago. PacNet reported a net loss of S$6.0 million in its three months to March 31. ``The main reason for that slight widening is actually due to the writedown of assets of US$1.8 million,`` group finance director Nancy Tan said during a conference call, adding that these were telephony assets used for its international direct dial business (IDD). ``The IDD market is highly marginalised with a lot of competitors...a more efficient way perhaps is for us to partner with another teleco to offer the service, so as such we decided to write-out the assets,`` president and chief executive officer Tan Tong Hai said. He declined to reveal specific details about its partner. Net revenues rose 37 percent to US$20 million for the three months to June 30, due mainly to a strong take-up rate for its corporate broadband service in the region, specifically in Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia. The firm, which posted a net cash surplus of US$1.3 million on year, was on track to reach profitability by the end of next year, Tan said. PacNet`s shares closed at US$2.75 on Monday in New York. |
