Softmatic AG (Neuer Markt WKN 727 170) increased sales in the second quarter of 2001 by 22.3 % over the previous quarter, from DM 10.6 million to DM 13.0 million. Sales for the first half year of 2001 (ended June 30) grew by 19.4 % to DM 23.6 million after adjusting the scope of consolidation. Sales in the first half of 2000 had come to DM 32.7 million without adjustments to the scope of consolidation. During the course of the restructuring, Softmatic has divested several subsidiaries and business units in the first half of 2001. Earnings before interest and tax for the second quarter 2001 came to minus DM 6.3 million, and to minus DM 10.6 million for the first half year (prior year without adjustments to the scope of consolidation: minus DM 15.2 million.)<p>Despite traditionally low software business in the first half year, Softmatic has already reached 46 % of planned total sales for 2001. During the month of July, Softmatic continiously acquired new large orders. The Executive Board estimates total sales for 2001 to reach DM 51 million. EBITDA should be a single digit negative million amount of DM. Sales relating from year end conversions thanks to the recently acquired exclusive product rights to the software COMET (installed base: more than 5,500 customers), which may become effective in the fourth quarter, have not been taken into consideration.
