Um mal wieder zurück zum eigentlichen Thema zu kommen und obwohl ich diese Frage vor geraumer Zeit hier im Board schon einmal versucht habe zu beantworten…
Zuerst muss in Erinnerung gebracht werden weshalb man seinerzeit überhaupt Kunene vor Hartmann anbohrte (wo doch Hartmann beträchtlich grösser ist).
Zur Erinnerung, ENG hat die Lizenzen von Vanco übernommen, und deren CEO M.Van Dyke hat über 1711 folgendes gesagt :
"Van Dyke said his company was convinced there was a potential of 3 billion barrels crude oil in Albian reservoirs in its
license area 1711. We took 3600 kilometres of 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional data in our license block and the immediate area around it. The results for the Kunene Prospect were very good. Gas is leaking out there."
Kunene wurde durch seismische 3D-Untersuchungen definiert, das Hartmann-Prospect ist allerdings nur 2D definiert!
Da sich jetzt sicherlich einige fragen weshalb Vanco denn nicht gleich selber gebohrt hatte, zitiere ich mal ne Email-Antwort von Vanco an Platinbaron (hier im Board am 24.04.08 gepostet) :
Vanco elected not to pay 100%of the costs of the well. Vanco offered other companies the opportunity to participate but they declined at this time. Due to the rising oil price and the new seismic data of Kunene and Hartmann, Vanco would now make a different decision. We are nethertheless very excited about 1711 and also the Namibian government is so.
Dazu past die Aussage vom namibischen Energieminister Nghimtina (April 2006) :
"Vanco pulled out recently as its search for a strategic partner was unsuccessful.” (wegen dem damaligen niedrigen Barrel-Preis von 30$ hat sich eine Offshore-Bohrung einfach nicht gelohnt.
Das Konsortium hat also logischerweise Kunene für ihren ersten Schuss ausgewählt da man ganz einfach bessere Daten vorliegen hatte (da 3D).
Weshalb man nun voraussichtlich (und ich schreibe ganz bewusst voraussichtlich… aber das ist eine andere Geschichte) Hartmann als nächstes Ziel anvisiert, hat IMHO mit folgender PR zu K1 zu tun :
The geological analysis of the drilling results, indicate the oil and gas potential of Block 1711 as well as good prospects for the region as a whole. There were gas shows in the Albian and Aptian sediments, confirmed by wire-line logging. It was not possible to fully evaluate the hydrocarbon potential of the penetrated section due to operational problems during testing. The reservoir quality of the tested zones was not very good, perhaps due to nearby igneous activity. However, seismic interpretation suggests that alteration of the sediments by the igneous activity may be localized to an area near the borehole, and therefore both the tested zones and some untested zones have great potential. PetroAlliance Service Co. of Moscow, a subsidiary of Schlumberger, estimates that the 4,698m – 4,748m interval could contain a potential gas resource of up to 14 trillion cubic feet
Ich gehe daher davon aus dass man jetzt, da man die geologischen Strukturen viel besser einschätzen kann, jegliches Risiko vulkanischer Aktivität auf ein Minimum beschränken will und sich deshalb auf Hartmann konzentriert.
Nach wie vor würde ich jetzt aber immer noch nicht ausschließen dass K1 wieder ein Thema wird (...However, seismic interpretation suggests that alteration of the sediments by the igneous activity may be localized to an area near the borehole, and therefore both the tested zones and some untested zones have great potential...).
Aber wahrscheinlich will man aufgrund der extrem hohen Bohrkosten jetzt erstmals das Risiko einschränken.
