VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Jan. 31, 2013) - Southern Silver Exploration Corp. (TSX VENTURE:SSV)(FRANKFURT:SEG) ("Southern Silver") has closed the first tranche of its previously reported (NR-01-13; January 16, 2013) non-brokered private placement by issuing 8,002,000 units at a price of $0.05 per unit for gross proceeds of $400,100. Each unit consists of one common share and one share purchase warrant exercisable to purchase one additional common share for a period of three years at an exercise price of $0.10 per share.
