THE BANGCHAK PETROLEUM board on Tuesday approved the hiring of two consortia, Solartron-China Triumph International Engineering and Gunkul Engineering-Trina Solar Energy Development, to design and construct Phase 3 of its solar-power-plant project, said BCP president Vichien Usanachote.
This phase is divided into three location groups. The first is in Buri Ram with 16-megawatt capacity, the second in Prachin Buri with 16MW, and the third is in Chaiyaphum and Nakhon Ratchasima with combined 16MW.

The total project cost is Bt4.5 billion and construction will begin next month. The solar plants are expected to be able to supply electricity to the Provincial Electricity Authority by the second quarter of next year and will generate additional revenue of Bt1.2 billion per year for BCP.

The company invited 11 companies to bid for this Phase 3 project, of which five submitted bid documents.

The deals for the first and second location groups were awarded to Solartron-China Triumph and the deal for the third group was awarded to the Gunkul-Trina consortium.
