BII nets 1.55tril rupiah profit
KUALA LUMPUR: Malayan Banking Bhd's (Maybank) commercial banking unit in Indonesia, PT Bank Internasional Indonesia Tbk (BII), posted a record net profit of 1.55 trillion rupiah (RM435.6 million) for fiscal year 2013, a 28 per cent jump from the previous year's 1.2 trillion rupiah.
The bank's pre-tax profit surged 29 per cent to 2.2 trillion rupiah from 1.7 trillion rupiah in the corresponding period, due to solid loan growth across the bank's businesses and strong deposit growth.
There was also significant improvement in profits from the group's subsidiaries, Maybank said in a statement yesterday.
"BII's focus on cost management and improvement in productivity have also greatly contributed to the 2013 performance," it said.
BII's loans increased by 26 per cent to 102 trillion rupiah last year from 80.9 trillion rupiah in 2012, despite the challenging market conditions.
Loans from business banking grew the fastest, up 30 per cent to 35.3 trillion rupiah from 27.1 trillion rupiah, as small and medium enterprise loans grew by 35 per cent.
Loans from retail banking increased by 27 per cent to 35.8 trillion rupiah from 28.3 trillion rupiah.
Global banking loans was higher by 21 per cent to 31 trillion rupiah from 25.5 trillion rupiah. "
