Siu Han, Taipei; Adam Hwang, DIGITIMES [Thursday 17 December 2015] China-based LED packaging service provider MLS is strongly interested in acquiring some of Germany-based Osram Licht AG's business units in order to quickly expand its LED lighting business, according to company president Lawrence Lin. Osram in April 2015 announced that it will sell off unprofitable business units, including brands, marketing channels and factories for classic lamps, ballasts, LED lamps and lighting systems. Osram is strong in marketing in North America and Europe and MLS has marketing advantages in the China and Asia markets, Lin said, adding acquiring Osram's business units can strengthen MLS' international competitiveness and help it tap overseas markets. China-based fellow maker Elec-Tech International has also shown interest in acquiring Osram's business units. |
