The preliminary metallurgical testwork suggests that the gold is fine grained and contained within pyrite (iron sulphide) therefore will require pre-oxidation to attain recoveries of 85-90%. This would require more capital and higher operating costs to achieve a decent recovery level. A process flowsheet that employed a lower cost method of extraction (without pre-oxidation) may result in a recovery of only ~75% for the primary sulphide ore. |
