Cubic Transportation Systems, Ltd. Rated One of UK`s 40 Safest Companies SAN DIEGO, Feb 5, 2002 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Cubic Transportation Systems, Ltd., part of San Diego based-Cubic Corporation (Amex: CUB) has received the British Safety Council`s "Sword of Honour" for its outstanding health, safety and environmental management systems. The honor, one of the most sought after in the country`s health and safety industry, is for companies that have implemented systems to help protect their people, equipment and environment, increasing productivity and profitability. "To be awarded the sword, CTSL had to demonstrate that we had a culture of aiming for the best practices, promoted from the boardroom to the shop floor," said CTSL Group Safety Manager Ian Moncur. "It is indeed an honor to be recognized for practices that we subscribe to in our daily course of doing all we can to exceed our customers` expectations, particularly as we operate in areas where safety is paramount, i.e., the railways." To be eligible to apply for the Sword, a company or organization must receive the Safety Council`s maximum five star health and safety management system audit rating. Each year about 100 eligible companies are assessed regarding areas of health and safety management including: business risk management, environment, culture and behavior, measurement and control systems, management of health and safety, occupational health, and information on accidents and incidents. The responses are judged by an independent awards panel. Swords are awarded to the top 40.
