Exodus chief sees strong demand continuing
NEW YORK, March 6 (Reuters) - Exodus Communications Inc. Chief Executive Ellen Hancock on Monday said she sees continued strong demand in hosting web sites for large corporate customers with room for growth in services such as consulting.
"We see that we are currently in the early stage of web hosting," Hancock told investors at a PaineWebber Internet conference in New York. "We see (web hosting) services as about 34 percent of our business this year."
The company, which provides server hosting, Internet connections and services for Internet companies and traditional businesses moving online, currently generates revenue about evenly between the three areas.
Margins for services are well above fifty percent, she said, and with the pricing trend moving upward this month a 10 percent price increase for the company`s services comes into effect.
Analysts say that the company will generate positive earnings before interest, depreciation, taxes and amortization (EBITDA) in the current quarter, and Hancock backed that expectation.
"There`s nothing we see now that will change that view," she said.
Shares of Exodus were up 13-7/8 at 171-7/8 in Monday morning trading on the Nasdaq.
