Tesla Inc. named Robyn Denholm as its new chairman, replacing Chief Executive Elon Musk as the head of the board with a relative outsider who will face the difficult task of overseeing the maverick billionaire.

Denholm, the chief financial officer of Australian telecommunications firm Telstra Corp. has served on Tesla’s board since 2014 but has fewer ties to Musk than most of the company’s directors.

Tesla said she would be leaving her CFO role at Telstra in the coming months.

The announcement late Wednesday comes ahead of a Nov. 13 deadline that was part of Musk’s settlement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to end claims he misled investors. That deal required Musk to step aside as head of the board for three years in favor of an independent chairman.

Installing Denholm, who is 55 years old, as chairman puts another leader at the top of Tesla for the first time since its earliest days when Musk was named chairman in 2004 after becoming the largest investor. Musk, who has also held the title of chief product architect, has run Tesla almost as an extension of himself, spearheading parts of the business as varied as strategy and marketing, and engineering while immersing himself in the smallest of production details. He remains CEO.

She previously served as CFO and COO at Juniper Networks, and in a range of strategy and finance roles at Sun Microsystems, Toyota and Arthur Andersen & Co.:eek:

=> also mit internationalen Konzern-Finanzen, und wie man da betrügt, sollte sie sich auskennen ;)

=> ABER hier bleiben mMn nun 6m bei Tesla, in denen nicht viel passieren wird:

...So that she will be able to devote her full attention to the Tesla Chair role, Robyn will be leaving her role as CFO and Head of Strategy at Telstra, Australia's largest telecommunications company, once her six-month notice period with Telstra is complete. Robyn will be serving as Tesla Chair on a full-time basis.

To ensure a smooth transition during the remainder of Robyn's time at Telstra, Elon will be a resource to Robyn and provide any support that she requests in her role as Chair. Robyn will continue to provide the necessary focus and time to Telstra during the remainder of her time there, and she will also temporarily step down as Chair of Tesla's Audit Committee until she leaves Telstra.
