The Queensland Government uses it in its new motor vehicle registration system. Beginning early next month, all car dealers in the state will use the digital keys when registering cars. Identikey is also being tested by General Electric in Singapore in its freight-forwarding operation and the Singapore Port Authority. The biggest user so far is Ray White Real Estate across Australia, New Zealand and South-East Asia. About 300 of its 535 offices now access the company`s new corporate extranet by using Identikey. Testing by a German medical association and a Port of Singapore freight company. Developer Gary Ohlson said it used European hardware and software, was designed in Brisbane, and was an Internet adaptation of a security system used by Swiss Bankers. "We saw the hardware at CeBit in Hanover a few years ago and thought it could be developed for much wider use," he said. "Any data going over the Internet - whether it uses a password or fingerprint file - can be intercepted and used by hackers, so the only true security is a system of authentication that is unique every time it is used." ...
