You already learned that MapTP is open and provides a set of programmable interfaces
(agent protocols) to lively attach various different data sources.
This provides flexibility on the "server side".
Concerning the mapping frontend, flexibility is given by the C++ and JAVA APIs. In contrast
to "flat" component software, having object oriented libraries enables programmers to
display whatever they want on the map.
This does not mean that we do not like components: we provide components for easy
application development as well!
This fact is even more true if you consider that important parts of the APIs are delivered in
source code. Developers can have a "look behind the scenes" and modify and extend the
API freely.
Last but not least, we offer a platform independend skin technique, that allows seamless
integration of mapping into your application, regardless on which platform, without any
limitation in design. This makes MapTP an unbeatable product for high end mapping
applications.
