Here is the news you seek ...

+ CEO to Sign SEC Certification -- CEO Peter Cartwright expected to sign SEC certifcation in next couple of days.

+ Good Second Quarter -- 19 cents in difficult times (low energy prices) for electric utility companies in general.

+ Utlra Conservative Forward Guidance -- lower guidance for 2002 to $0.80 to $1.00. Ultra conservative estimate leaves no where to go but up.

+ Good Spark Spread -- Current spark spread of $35.66 and continuing low natural gas prices (< $2.80) indicates a profitable summer for Calpine is very likely.

+ Dedicated Team -- has completed its planned plants on or ahead of schedule. Calpine management and employees have shown their dedication to company success by getting plants on line early -- ahead of peak summer demand.

+ Very Much Undervalued -- ranked number 2 on list of most undervalued stocks in electric utility sector.

+ Highly Efficient -- fleet of new gas-fired plants is at least 35% more efficient than older plants.

+ Huge Capacity Increase -- increased capacity by about 185% since May 2001 -- almost a triple increase.

+ Increasing Demand -- California says May 2001 to May 2002 demand increased almost 4%. California expressed concern over the failure of conservation and over the demand stemming from an improving economy.

+ Long Term Contracts -- Large percentage of Calpine`s capacity is under long term contract ensuring future revenues and capacity utilization.

+ Significant Power Needs in US -- there is a strong need for additional power throughout the US, to satisfy increasing demand and to replace old and inefficient generating facilities. As much as 160,000 mw of US summer generating capacity is vulnerable to environmental or economic replacement by new stat-of-the-art facilities.

+ Hot Peak Season -- is here and it is extremely hot -- California already had almost of week of Stage 2 Emergency Alerts. Temperatures were well above 105F from Arizona to Montana moved east. Current extreme heat can only help Calpine`s profits as they are called upon to supply more power -- some of it at much higher spot market prices.

+ Environment-Friendly, Clean Energy -- Calpine is involved in development, acquisition, ownership, and operation of clean natural gas fired plants. No other company is dedicated to providing clean energy.

+ Critical Plant Openings -- Calpine opened critical new plant in California where demand had recently exceeded supply (6/17/2002 Delta in California 880 megawatts). Also opened new plants in other high-heat, high-industrial parts of the USA before the peak season began.

+ Rapid Growth History -- what has been done may be done again.

+ Key Customer Happy -- Calpine settled with California while others refused (probably got preferred supplier status as a result).

+ Limited Access to Equity Markets -- Calpine raised $700MM in equity to bolster balance sheet. Said it would not access equity markets again in 2002 or 2003.

+ Stabilized Finances -- Calpine refinanced pressing debt.

+ Ethical Trading Practices -- Calpine kept its nose clean in trading practices.

+ Operating in High Demand Areas -- Calpine has developed new power plants in the best areas for financial success.

+ Positive Net Institutional Purchases - 5,100,000 more shares bought by institutions than sold in the last three months.

+ Hard Assets -- Value of assets which are appreciating, low-maintenance, income-producing power plants exceeds liabilities by several billion dollars.
