5.4 million kilometres of street network for VDO Dayton
Gent, October 2, 2002
Tele Atlas and Siemens VDO Automotive will expand their cooperation and develop new editions of navigation CDs for the European countries, compatible with the VDO Dayton systems. 5.4 million kilometres of street network form the basis for a Europe-wide DVD, which will be marketed soon, and is to be used in VDO Dayton`s recently presented C-IQ system.

The first new editions are navigation CDs for Germany and for Benelux. They offer total coverage of their respective countries and include the network of the major roads in Western Europe, which leads users directly to nearly 400 cities. The Germany CD contains house number ranges for more than 900 municipalities, and the Benelux CD all house number ranges for Belgium and The Netherlands. TMC codes in Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany enable dynamic navigation.

"The new agreement is an important step in the expanded cooperation between Tele Atlas and Siemens VDO Automotive", remarks Tele Atlas COO Rolv Eide. Josef Besting, Siemens VDO Trading CEO says: "The distribution of the new CDs will be shared. Adding Tele Atlas navigation products to our product range will create new concepts and increase the value of our navigation systems for our customers."
