Compaq and Commerce One Deliver Global B2B eCommerce Solutions

Compaq customers can choose hosted buying solution or enterprise deployment through Compaq Professional Services

HOUSTON, TX and PLEASANTON, CA April 5, 2000 -- Consistent with Compaq`s corporate vision to take "Everything to the Internet," Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ) and Commerce One (Nasdaq: CMRC) announced a new business-to-business buying solution for Compaq customers. Based on Commerce One BuySite™ Portal Edition and Commerce One MarketSite Global Trading Portal, this scalable, hosted solution with back-end integration capabilities that enables a range of e-commerce activities, from purchasing to auctions. In addition, for customers requiring a buying application deployed within their enterprise, Compaq plans to resell the Commerce One BuySite Enterprise Edition. Compaq Professional Services` eProcurement Practice will provide turnkey implementation and support services including basic setup, training and ERP integration. Compaq is deploying this solution to customers today and is actively taking orders.

This new Compaq approach to B2B eCommerce purchasing gives customers a single log-on, a consistent user interface, advanced workflow and back-end integration capability to all of their suppliers, while simplifying administration, deployment and user training. Compaq`s rapid deployment process can implement the solution to a customer within weeks instead of months. Central to this partnership are the new Commerce One BuySite Portal Edition e-procurement application and access to the Commerce One MarketSite™ Global Trading Portal, a site for exchanging goods and services among businesses worldwide. Through enhanced functionality on Commerce One MarketSite, customers can browse, order and receive custom pricing on Compaq`s commercial desktops, notebooks, industry-standard servers and storage options through a single front-end buying application. Supplier catalog content and auction services are also provided through the Commerce One MarketSite Global Trading Portal, allowing Compaq customers the ability to purchase products and services from hundreds of other existing and future suppliers.
