Cubic Wins $20 Million Navy Helicopter Simulator Support Program Contract SAN DIEGO & ORLANDO, Fla., Jun 26, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- The Worldwide Technical Services Division of San Diego-based Cubic Corp. (AMEX: CUB)`s Defense Applications group has won a $20 million contract to continue operations and maintenance services for the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Helicopter Simulator Support Program. The new five-year contract more than doubles the company`s current helicopter simulator revenue stream from NAVAIR and triples the number of Cubic employees supporting Cubic`s current helicopter simulator support contract, awarded in 1998. Cubic currently provides one-third of NAVAIR`s helicopter support services. Under the new contract, the Navy has bundled all of its helicopter simulators into one program, which Cubic will operate in its entirety. The new helicopter support contract was part of the Fielded Training Systems Support (FTSS) Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity program awarded in 2000, pre-qualifying Cubic and a half dozen other contractors to compete over a 10-year period for approximately $500 million in Navy simulator support work. With this most recent win, Cubic has received more than $75 million of nearly $250 million awarded so far. Cubic supports, installs, operates and maintains military aviation and surface simulator training systems, and ground and air combat ranges at 25 U.S. sites and in seven foreign countries. The company also contracts with electronics and commercial customers, providing operation and maintenance services for a variety of training systems and electronic warfare training ranges. The Cubic Defense Applications group, one of Cubic`s two major segments, provides realistic combat training systems for military forces as well as simulation, force modernization, educational services, operations and maintenance and manufacturing services. The group also supplies products and systems for C4ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) applications, search and rescue avionics and radio communications for military and civil markets. The corporation`s other major segment, Cubic Transportation Systems, designs and manufactures automatic fare collection systems for public mass transit authorities.
