hi!
wer hat aktuelle infos über telecomasia?
wer hat aktuelle infos über telecomasia?
Na ja, News zu TA sind z.Zt. dünn gesät:
- nächsten Donnerstag, den 27.04.2000, ist HV;

Moving into the 21 st century
Major change is on the way. This year will see the introduction of an independent regulator and the separation of
players from referees. This marks the start of Thailand´s attempt to bring telecom regulation into the 21 st century
and unlike in most other markets has bullish implications for the listed incumbents. The private sector´s
build-transfer-operate concessions will be changed into build-own-operate licences. Telcos will own their assets
and no longer pay a share of revenue to major competitors. This helps level the playing field and is a first step
towards giving the telcos the freedom to run their businesses on fully commercial lines without government interference.
Tariffs are set to increase. Removing TOT´s ( Telephone Organisation of Thailand) revenue share received from the
private-sector telcos will leave TOT with marginal profit. To ensure TOT´s successful privatisation, tariffs
(which have not changed for 15 years) will have to be increased. TA set free. Allowing competition within the fixed-line
business unbuckles the straight jacket that TA has been operating in, giving it freedom, for the first time, to eat into
TOT´s market share in Bangkok. We expect TA to eat into TOT´s 1.4m subscriber base and possibly grow its wire-line business at more than our current forecast of 200,000 net additions over the next three years. In our view, TA will benefit from the introduction of fixed-mobile inter-connection charges as well as removing CAT´s (Communications Association of Thailand) free equity in its ISP business. In short, regulatory reform is almost
unambiguously positive for TA. BUY. Reform of Internet regulation is needed and expected. Given the fact that the state enterprises have failed to develop a coherent structure for the telecoms industry, it is no surprise that Internet regulation is also a mess. The CAT has granted 18 ISP licences but in practice restricts their growth. We expect the government will work towards removing CAT´s free equity over the next two years. The most probable route would be to sell CAT´s equity to the majority shareholders. This would be very positive for the growth of the Internet
access industry.
TelecomAsia
TA will no longer be a sub-contractor for the TOT and will be able to compete directly against TOT.
Tariff reform is positive for TA. The standing monthly charge is just US$2.50 Œ even lower than Indonesia´s.
Changing TA´s concession into a licence is another positive.
TT&T
TT&T´s long-term future hinges upon the removal of its 43% revenue share payments. Tariff reform is a big benefit to TT&T.
Most of the company´s call revenue is derived from local long-distance traffic.
TOT
Liberalisation is enormously negative for TOT in the short term but will ultimately pave the way for TOT´s privatisation, which will ensure it is run along economic lines. This is several years away, however, and we expect TA to eat into its business in Bangkok. TOT in the past has had little freedom to make its own commercial decisions due to political interference. In the future TOT will be able to operate along more commercial lines, but a change in the state enterprise culture is vital. The removal of the revenue share payments from the private-sector telcos will leave TOT marginally profitable. For its privatisation to occur tariffs must be lifted. TOT will try to diversify. It has already secured a spectrum for a third-generation mobile network, is investing in more fibre infrastructure and is attempting to develop an Internet strategy.
CAT
CAT stands to lose its revenue share payments from TAC and will not be compensated for with higher tariffs.
CAT has suffered from political interference and has a strong state enterprise culture. It is clearly not prepared for liberalisation.
AIS
The revenue share conversion will provide a positive lift to earnings, the size of which will depend on AIS´s negotiating ability.
New cellular licences are a possibility. 3G licences are expected to be awarded in 2002.
TAC
TAC benefits significantly from the revenue share conversion. In addition to the 20% revenue share TAC pays, it pays
a flat B200 per subscriber per month for access to TOT´s network. Both of these will be removed and we expect the
interconnection charges will be lower than that currently paid to TOT. As with AIS, TAC will benefit from tariff reform.
Increasing competition might pose a problem but, if as we expect TAC finds a strategic partner, it can deal with this
as the overall size of the pie will grow.

neuigkeiten bei telecomasia?
Ja bitte, wer hat Infos über telecomasia? Behalten oder verkaufen???
Danke...!
Danke...!

Gerade in diesem doch eher westlich ausgerichteten Land, müßten
