First Metals Inc. (TSX: FMA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Brian A. Ferguson P. Eng. as President. Mr. Ferguson is a former Vice President, Mining and a senior executive within the Falconbridge Group of Companies. He brings over 40 years of practical experience in the planning, engineering and development of mines.
Joining Mr. Ferguson on the Board of Directors is Mr. Kenneth Hill. Mr. Hill is a P. Eng, and is Vice-President and Director of Yukon Gold Corporation Inc. He also brings over 40 years of experience to the Board. As a member of the board, Mr. Hill will be entitled to options to acquire 100,000 shares, exercisable at $1.00 per share on or before September 13, 2009.
First Metals is advancing two deposits, located within the Noranda Mining Camp towards production. The Fabie Bay deposit was developed by Mining Corporation in 1976-77 with a production ramp driven to a depth of 130 meters plus underground drifting on 6 levels. A 70,000 tonne open pit plus the underground drifting provided a 100,000 tonne bulk sample that was test milled in 1978 by Noranda Mines Limited with favorable results that would indicate the ore is amenable to conventional milling techniques with good recoveries.
The Magusi River deposit, located 1.2 kilometers to the west, has significant exploration potential beyond the significant inferred resources already outlined. (See more detailed reports including NI 43-101 compliant technical report on www.SEDAR.com ). These properties were acquired earlier in the year from Globex Mining Enterprises Inc. (TSX: GMX).
The Company has recently completed its initial public offering and listing on the TSX Exchange, and currently has 30,832,555 common shares issued and outstanding.
