Result of Extraordinary General Meeting (“EGM”) All Resolutions Passed


Sibir is pleased to announce that at the Company’s EGM held this morning all resolutions proposed to shareholders were unanimously passed. As a consequence, Bennfield Limited, currently Sibir’s largest shareholder, will subscribe for 58,813,008 new ordinary shares of 10p each in Sibir for $404,633,493 (“Bennfield Subscription”) by 17 March 2006.


Following the Bennfield Subscription, Sibir will place an additional 20,000,000 new Ordinary Shares, at the Bennfield Subscription Price. The placing price in sterling will be determined by the exchange rate effective on that day.


Commenting on the success of the EGM, Henry Cameron, Chief Executive of Sibir, said, “We are delighted that all resolutions were passed by shareholders at the meeting today. The issue of new shares to Bennfield will broaden the scope and reach of the company by diversifying its ultimate shareholder base. The cash infusion will also result in the company being debt free and fund its remaining commitments for the Salym project creating an enhanced platform for an aggressive expansion of the company’s interests in Russia.”

Als Folge unterzeichnet begrenztes Bennfield, z.Z. Sibirs größter Aktionär, für 58.813.008 neue Stammaktien 10p jede in Sibir für $404.633.493 (" Bennfield Subskription" ) bis zum März 17 2006. Nach der Bennfield Subskription setzt Sibir zusätzliche 20.000.000 neue Stammaktien, zu dem Bennfield Subskription Preis. Der setzenpreis in Sterling wird durch die Verbrauchssteuer festgestellt, die an diesem Tag wirkungsvoll ist. den Erfolg des EGM kommentieren, Henry Cameron, Hauptgeschäftsführer von Sibir, gesagt, " wir werden erfreut, daß alle Auflösungen von den Aktionären bei der Sitzung heute geführt wurden. Die Ausgabe der neuen Anteile zu Bennfield erweitert den Bereich und die Reichweite der Firma, indem sie seine entscheidende Aktionärunterseite variiert. Die Kapitalspritze ergibt auch die Firma, die Schuld frei ist und finanziert seine restlichen Verpflichtungen für das Salym Projekt, das verursacht eine erhöhte Plattform für eine konkurrenzfähige Expansion der Interessen der Firma an Rußland."

Subscription for 58,813,008 new Sibir Shares by Bennfield Limited


Sibir is pleased to announce that Bennfield has today received on schedule the third and final payment required for Bennfield to fulfil its Sibir shareholder approved subscription for 58,813,008 new ordinary shares in Sibir (`Bennfield Subscription`). This third payment amounted to $202,316,747 making the total paid to date $620,358,052.


As a result of this, and of certain other conditions having also been met, Bennfield has now paid Sibir $404,633,493 for the 58,813,008 new ordinary shares in the Company or $6.88 per share. At an exchange rate of £/$1.72, the rate used in the agreement with Orton Oil Company Limited, this equates to £4.00 per share.


Admission to trading on AIM of the 58,813,008 new shares is expected to occur on 20 March 2006.


Commenting on the announcement, Sibir CEO, Henry Cameron, said, "This is a very important development for Sibir as the company celebrates its tenth year of activity. The funds received as a result of the subscription for these shares, together with and the non pre-emptive share placing of 20,000,000 shares, details of which will be announced on the 20th of March, will eliminate all company borrowings and will provide the necessary cash to fund Sibir`s remaining commitments at the Salym project where production has increased in the space of two and a half months to over 26,000 barrels a day and growing. Every bit as important as the cash injection is the strengthening of the ultimate shareholder profile. Much of Sibir`s recent success is attributable to the dynamic role played by its key Russian shareholder and the events announced today broaden the scope of influence which the Russian shareholder brings to the company. This behind us, we are able to concentrate our efforts on the recovery of our share of Sibneft Yugra and get on with our announced plans to expand our production and reserves in new projects."
