SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Gilead Sciences Inc. after Wednesday's closing bell said it made $407.4 million, or 85 cents a share, in the latest three-month period, compared with $262.7 million, or 55 cents a share, in the same quarter last year. Excluding onetime items, the biotechnology company's per-share profit came in at 93 cents in the first quarter. Revenue climbed to $1.03 billion from $692.9 million. Gilead's HIV franchise turned in sales of $705.1 million, including $345.9 million in sales of Truvada. Analysts had been looking for earnings of 79 cents a share, according to Thomson Financial. Revenue was expected to rise to $994.7 million.

Vor 3 Monaten machen sie nen Sprung von 10% nach oben, heute/morgen könnte es anders herum kommen...aber warten wir mal ab. Ändert ja eh nichts an den langfristigen Perspektiven, die sind allemal bestens. Von Quartalszahlen darf man sich nicht so sehr beeinflussen lassen...

das war doch schon öfter der Fall, dass Gilead einen grösseren Rücksetzer machte, um sich dann wieder schön langsam zu erholen...
Könnte mir gut vorstellen, dass es die nächsten Tage wieder so läuft, nachdem die Erwartungen so hoch sind...

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Gilead Sciences Inc. is expected to report a 43% surge in both its per-share profit and revenue for the latest quarter after Wednesday's closing bell, led by strong sales of its HIV treatments.
"Gilead's HIV franchise will continue to provide strong top-line growth," Michael King, an analyst at Rodman & Renshaw, wrote in a research note ahead of the results. He noted that Gilead's market share in HIV products hit "yet another high" in the past week.
The Foster City, Calif.-based biotechnology company Gilead Sciences Inc is expected to post earnings of 79 cents a share compared with 55 cents a share in profit last year, according to analysts polled by Thomson Financial. Revenue is expected to rise to $994.7 million from $692.9 million in the same quarter a year ago.
Sales of the first once-a-day treatment for HIV treatment Atripla, which Gilead jointly developed with Bristol-Myers Squibb Co., are forecast to continue their high-growth trajectory, rising to $182.4 million, according to company estimates. In the quarter ended Dec. 31, Atripla sales totaled $137.4 million.
The FDA approved Atripla, made up of Gilead's Truvada -- which consists of the company's drugs Viread and Emtriva -- and Bristol-Myers' Sustiva, for sale last summer.
Truvada sales are expected to come in higher as well, at $346.8 million compared with $337.1 million in the fourth quarter.
Viread and Emtriva sales, meanwhile, are expected to slip sequentially, to $157.9 million and $8.4 million from fourth-quarter results of $159.5 million and $8.5 million, respectively.
First-quarter sales of the company's chronic hepatitis B treatment Hepsera are expected to total $64.3 million vs. $65.9 million, while fungal infection treatment AmBisome is seen turning in sales of $55.7 million compared with $58.3 million in the prior quarter.
CIBC World Markets' Bret Holley doesn't anticipate that Gilead will reveal "any major pipeline news." The most closely watched candidate in Gilead's pipeline, the pulmonary arterial hypertension treatment ambrisentan, was granted priority review status by the Food and Drug Administration during the quarter. The agency is subsequently due to decide whether or not to approve ambrisentan by June 18.
Analyst Hamed Khorsand of BWS Financial believes an update on the R&D pipeline and timeline would move Gilead's shares. As well, he said in a research note, "[T]he Street is likely to pay close attention to the guidance figures that management provides."
Shares of Gilead ended Tuesday at $79.36, down 34 cents.

Analysten von Lazard geben heute einen Ausblick auf die Quartalszahlen von Gilead Sciences, (Nachrichten) die nach Börsenschluss am 18. April veröffentlicht werden. Nach Einschätzung der Analysten wird das Pharmaunternehmen für das erste Geschäftsquartal einen Gewinn je Aktie von 87 cents bei einem Umsatz von 1,02 Milliarden Dollar melden, was über den Konsensschätzungen des Marktes liege. Diese sehen lediglich einen Gewinn je Aktie von 79 cents und einen Umsatz von 995 Millionen Dollar vor. Grund für die überdurchschnittlich hohen Ergebnisse könnten gute Absatzzahlen bei dem Medikament Atripla sein, mit dem ein Erlös von 182 Millionen Dollar erwirtschaftet worden sein könnte.

Klar, es gibt aktuell nicht viel Neuigkeiten bei GILD, außer dass der Kurs anzieht und stetig nach oben geht. Der Langfristchart ist eh der Knaller, nix zu sehen vom Millenniumscrash. Hier noch mal zur Erinnerung:
