Ducommun unit gets $15 million contract

LOS ANGELES (AFX) - Aerospace engineering company Ducommun (Nachrichten) Inc. said Tuesday its Ducommun Technologies division received a $15 million contract from United Technologies Corp.'s Hamilton Sundstrand unit to make Boeing 787 mechanical enclosures and wire harnesses.

Engineering and first article development will occur at Ducommun Technologies' Phoenix plant, with production taking place at its Thailand facility in 2008.

United Technologies is the parent company to military suppliers Pratt&Whitney and Sikorsky Aircraft.

Opening of the Manufacturing Facility in Thailand

Joseph C. Berenato, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Ducommun, stated, "We have begun production less than a year after approval from the Thailand Board of Investment to invest in this project. Our initial production will focus on commercial microwave switches for the global telecommunications marketplace. We are continuing to evaluate other commercial applications which would be a good fit for our Thailand facility and allow us to increase our manufacturing activities there."

Were these "piss poor" results a surprise to anybody out there???? My God what a nightmare. Sales up (all from aquisitions), net incme way down, GP% down, SG&A $$$$ up, cash, a breakeven???, inventory reserve for a customer cancelled order. UGH!!! It just goes on and on. Anybody, ANYBODY, who buys this stock is a complete IDIOT. This baby is going south big time!!

Früher gab es auch einmal einen Schweizer Journalisten, mit Namen Élie Ducommun. Dieser erhielt 1902 den Friedensnobelpreis für seine Arbeit im Internationalen Friedensbüro in Bern. Élie Ducommun war einer der ersten Freimaurer der einen Nobelpreis erhielt.

Élie Ducommun (1833 - 1906) war im Jahre 1856 Mitglied in der Loge La Prudence, in Genf. Er war Mitbegründer und 1892 - 1906 erster Sekretär des Internationalen Friedensbüros in Bern. 1890 - 1895 war er Grossmeister der Schweizerischen Grossloge Alpina (auch Mitglied und Stuhlmeister der Berner Loge " Zur Hoffnung" ).
