Everest Poker is sending ten players to the upcoming EPT event at Casino Hohensyburg in Dortmund, Germany. The first European Poker Tour event held in Germany, the EPT Season 3 German Open is a €5,000 No Limit Texas Hold'em event that will be televised. The sold-out poker tournament has been capped at 500 players.
"The only way players can join the EPT Dortmund event at this late date is to play in an online tournament," said Jonathan May, Everest Poker property manager. "The response to this event has been unprecedented and we're excited to be able to send some of our best players to it."
The first satellite tournaments for seats at the EPT Dortmund event will be held on February 8, 2007. Everestpoker.com und die anderen pokerseiten bieten das turnier natürlich auch an. aufmerksamkeit liegt auf das erste europäische poker tour event in deutschland.
Zweitens everest ist für mich übersichtlicher, spielfreundlicher, schnellste software und um meilen besser als pokerstar.

In the clearest signal yet that the multi-lingual community is taking up the online poker reins, Everest Poker has leapt to number 4 in the table of cash games traffic, fast catching up with Pokerstars, Party and Full Tilt!

It seems reasonable to conclude from the numbers that if the heat applied to online gaming in the US increases yet more, Everest and its European-focused rivals will stand to gain further.

Danish Team Outplays Their Rivals in Everest Poker Nordic Summit

The Everest Poker Nordic Summit, a uniquely original tournament for the benefit of online players based in the Scandinavian countries of Norway, Sweden and Denmark, came to a conclusion last week in sunny Barcelona in Spain where the qualifiers fought out a combined team and individual contest.
The team prize was $5,000 to be shared between the ten team members but the real money was available to the ten players who finished highest in the tournament, with the winner alone taking home $6,000.
The format was very unusual, involving ten tables of three-handed poker. One player from each of the three countries occupied each table, but only three tables would be running at any one time,

meaning other team members were on hand to be consulted. The rule allowed each player one team time-out to give advice. The sense of team and nationality would therefore be strong, not to mention the inbuilt rivalry that already exists between Scandinavians.
Scoring involved 3 points for the winner of each table, 2 for second and 1 for last. The highest scoring team from the ten tables won the $5,000 team prize. However, winning the three-handed tables meant more than mere points for the team. Simply put, a player had to win to stand a chance at the individual prizes from the $20,000 prize pool.
Once all ten tables were completed, it was the Danish team that had the biggest tally of points. It was no surprise then that the final table included five Danes. Close behind were four Norwegians leaving room just for a single Swede.
In the final table play, the Swede was soon eliminated, finishing 7th for a $1,000 prize. The Danes and Norwegians proceeded to split the placings amongst them with neither dominating the other. In the end, it was a Norwegian, by the name of "Busseman" who took the top prize of $6,000.
All players also had the pleasure of a day out for lunch, drinking and seats at the big football match at the Nou Camp to see FC Barcelona vs Athletico Bilbao.
Everyone enjoyed the occasion which was a clear demonstration that Everest Poker is top of the pile when it considers what its players would like to see. There must be something in this since Everest Poker is, according to Pokerscout.com, regularly fourth in the table of cash player numbers online at any one time, sitting behind no-one but the majors, Pokerstars, Party Poker and Full Tilt.

Vom 14.-17. März fand zum ersten Mal das EPT in Warschau statt. Insgesamt nahmen 3 Everest Poker-Qualifikanten an den EPT Polish Open teil: henri@henri (FR), Stromboli (FR) und watzlav (IT).
henri@henri startete am 1. Tag, Stromboli und watzlav am 2. Tag. Alle 3 Spieler schafften es mit Bravour und viel Spass, sich bis fast am Ende des Abends an den Tischen zu halten.
Stromboli ging beim 7. Level mit 2-2 und 3.000 Chips All-in, hatte aber nicht erwartet, dass sein Gegner ihn mit A-A callen würde.
watzlav hielt sich von allen Spielern am längsten bis zum 8. Level. Mit 2-5-5-6-4 auf dem Tisch und A-9 in der Hand ging er mit 7.500 Chips All-in und konnte sich nicht gegen 8-8 durchsetzen.
Allen Spielern nochmals herzlichen Glückwunsch und vielen Dank für die Teilnahme!
Auch an die Südtiroler, die für gute Laune und Stimmung gesorgt haben, herzlichen Dank. Ein Traum im Schaum!

Neu Im Kino - Poker, Las Vegas, Bob Dylan und Jennifer Harmann – das könnte interessant werden!
Demnächst im Kino! Ein realistischer Film über Poker in Las Vegas mit dem Darsteller des Hulks in der Hauptrolle, Jennifer Harmann und Daniel Negreanu in Nebenrollen. Die Filmmusik ist von Bob Dylan und Bruce Springsteen.
Deutschland gehört leider nicht zu den Ländern in denen dieser Film als erstes startet, es wird wohl bis Ende Juni dauern, bevor dieser Film in die deutschen Kinos kommt. Australier, Franzosen und Portugiesen können sich bereits Anfang Mai darauf freuen sich diesen Film in den Kinos anzusehen.
Bedingt durch die Anmerkungen und die Szenenphotos, welche bereits im Vorfeld veröffentlicht wurden, können wir davon ausgehen, dass es sich bei "Lucky you" um einen sehr professionell produzierten Film handelt, in welchem die Pokerszene des Jahres 2003 in Las Vegas zum Zeitpunkt der WSOP beschrieben wird (auf Chris Moneymaker wird in diesem Film jedoch nicht eingegangen). Der Plot zeigt überwiegend fiktive Charaktere in realer Umgebung, es spielen aber auch einige reale Poker Pro's mit, wie z.B. Jennifer Harmann und Daniel Negreanu.
Der Film wurde teilweise in einem Set gedreht, welches aus Teilen des alten Bellagio Casinos bestand, bevor dieses vor einigen Jahren komplett renoviert wurde, wobei auch eine Erneuerung der Wandgemälde, der Bestuhlung und vieler weiterer Einrichtungsgegenstände erfolgte. Für diejenigen, welche den alten Karten-Raum im Bellagio noch kannten, war es am Set natürlich ein unwirkliches Erlebnis durch die Kulissen zu spazieren - eine Reise in die Vergangenheit.
Aber nicht nur das Bellagio wurde am Set nachgebaut. So wurde z.B. Benny's Bullpen im Binion's Horseshoe ebenfalls für den Dreh in den Hollywood-Studios nachgebaut (natürlich zu einem Zeitpunkt lange vor der Harrah's WSOP Ära).
"Lucky You" wurde unter der Regie von Curtis Hanson gedreht, welcher bereits bei LA Confidential und 8-Mile Regie führte. Das Drehbuch wurde von Hanson und Eric Roth (welcher beim Drehbuch für Forrest Gump bewiesen hat, dass er sein Handwerk versteht) geschrieben, so dass man sicher sein kann, dass die Qualität des Drehbuches sichergestellt ist.
Die Handlung in Kurzform: Es geht um die Beziehung, welche sich zwischen den Hauptcharakteren Eric Bana (der Hulk-Darsteller) und Drew Barrymore, entwickelt. Beim Charakter Bana, handelt es sich um einen befähigten High Stakes Poker Professional mit emotionellen Problemen und einem öden Privatleben. Barrymore spielt eine Sängerin, welche ihr Glück in Las Vegas sucht.
Im Gegensatz zu dem überdrehten, nicht wirklich realistischen Poker-Film "Rounders" orientiert sich "Lucky You" mehr an dem realen Geschehen rund um den Pokertisch und an dem Leben der Spieler, als an einer speziellen Hand und einem Russen mit einem grässlichen Akzent. Ein weiterer Aspekt in diesem Film ist, dass er die Pokerszene zu einem Zeitpunkt zeigt, als sich alles im Wandel befindet. Die Pokerszene mit den Professionals, von denen jeder jeden kannte, sah sich mit Massen von Internetspielern konfrontiert und der Wandel in der Pokerwelt manifestierte sich zu dieser Zeit bildlich, als das Binion durch ein Walmart Schild ersetzt wurde.
Dieser Film verflechtet eine fiktionale, unter die Haut gehende, menschliche Geschichte mit der brodelnden Welt des Pokers, wo reale Poker-Stars sich mit den Film Stars vermischen. In Statistenrollen spielen sind z.B. folgende Poker Pros zu sehen: Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan, Ted Forrest und Chris "Jesus" Ferguson.
Der Soundtrack des Films ist für jeden Geschmack geeignet. Bod Dylan hat für diesen Film extra einen neuen Song mit dem Titel " Huck's Tune" geschrieben, außerdem ist der Bob Dylan Klassiker "Like a rolling Stone" zu hören. Außerdem besteht der Soundtrack von "Lucky you" aus Werken der Künstler: Bruce Springsteen, Liza Minelli, Kris Kristofferson, Bonnie Raitt und George Jones.
Alles in allem ein Film, der auf jeden Fall sehenswert ist.

270 Days Later, Online Gaming Industry Awaits UIGEA Regulations

ImageTomorrow it will be 270 days since the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act was signed into law by the President of the United States, and the deadline by which the Secretary of the Federal Reserve System, in consultation with the Attorney General, must set down regulations to identify and block restricted online gambling transactions.
We have until the end of tomorrow to see whether the Federal Reserve and the Attorney General will stick to this deadline, but we are not far from learning exactly how the US Government intends to restrict its citizens online gaming activities.
For the management of online gaming companies that continue to provide services into the United States, these must be nervous times. We have already witnessed several cases which demonstrate that the US government will not shy away from pursuing the executives of such companies, or their financial transaction providers, and the regulations of the UIGEA will give them yet another weapon in their war on online gaming.
In March of this year Gary Kaplan, the founder of BetonSports Plc, was arrested in the Dominican Republic and extradited to face prosecution in St Louis on charges including violation of the Interstate Wire Act of 1961.
And Peter Dicks, the British Chairman of Sportingbet Plc was arrested in New York's JFK airport at the request of the St. Landry District Attorney in Louisiana, on charges of breaching a State statute on “offences affecting general morality”.
Now under section 5363 of the UIGEA, any person engaged in the business of betting or wagering may not knowingly accept payment in relation to participation in unlawful internet gambling. In this context, the UIGEA definition of a payment would be any transaction or transmittal involving credit or the proceeds of credit, electronic fund transfers, cheques, drafts or similar instruments and any other form of financial transaction as prescribed by the Secretary and Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve.
Any person found in breach of section 5363 risks being fined, imprisoned for a maximum of five years, or both. It is the remit of either the US Attorney General, or the Attorney General of any State to institute proceedings in this regard.
So can we expect the US authorities to actively pursue online gaming operators that continue to provide their services to American citizens? According to Leslie Bryant, Head of the Cyber Crime Fraud Unit at the Federal Bureau of Investigation yes, we can.
Bryant states that as a key enforcement agency, the FBI’s strategy for tackling online gaming is to start with the companies providing the service, “We’re going after the people making the money, the owners of these virtual casinos, gaming rooms, and off-track betting parlours.”
And for US players Bryant had this warning, “Even if you don’t get caught gambling, you could well lose the money you have in an online gaming account if the company faces charges…..the U.S. government seizes assets in these cases whenever possible.”
At the time of this article, hundreds of online bingo, casino, poker and sports book sites continue to accept payments from American players, even if their payment options are becoming fewer and fewer. This places these companies and their customers funds in some considerable risk.
The online gaming executives that Gaming Intelligence Group has spoken to believe that the authorities will take action against US facing operators once the deadline for implementation of the UIGEA passes. Particularly for the poker operators who withdrew from the US market last year, this represents a levelling of the playing field, that will once again shift the balance of power in the fight for active player liquidity.
If the private online poker sites choose to withdraw from the US market, or are prosecuted for failing to do so, we could expect six of the ten largest operators to loose as much as 90% of their player liquidity.
PokerStars.com is probably best placed to survive such an event. While we estimate that 70-75% of PokerStars liquidity is derived from the United States, their customer base has grown rapidly outside the US in the past nine months, thanks in part to promotions like the $1 million guaranteed Sunday weekly tournament.
PokerStars continues to accept payments from US players via ePassporte, Visa, Mastercard, Diners Club, cashiers cheque, money order and bank draft, although withdrawals can only be made through ePassporte, Visa Debit or Moneybookers.
As recently as yesterday, the company was informing its American players that it would continue to provide its services. “You may play on our site as you did prior to the recent developments,” said PokerStars customer support. “We would like to reassure you that all funds held with PokerStars are completely secure. Player deposits are held in a separate bank account so that they remain completely isolated from all other aspects of the business.”
However Neteller’s customer funds were also held in separate accounts from that of the business, but that did not stop the US Attorney’s Office from seizing $60 million of their customers money. Five months on, Neteller is expected to announce later this week how and when customers can expect their money back.
Full Tilt will probably be even more affected than PokerStars due to their greater dependence on American players. We estimate about 85% of Full Tilt’s customers to be US based. Without these players, Full Tilt’s business could become unsustainable, particularly if their remaining non-US players left in search of greater liquidity.
And with the highest dependence on US players, Absolute Poker, Bodog and UltimateBet would end up with virtually no liquidity if they blocked these players, as they probably account for up to 95% of their customer base.
So who stands to gain from all this? Apart from the US land-based operators of course, it would have to be online poker operators such as PartyPoker, iPoker, Everest, Ongame and IPN. As the liquidity rankings change, these operators stand to gain the non-US players of the affected sites who will want to move to where the most action can be found.
And the Losers? The American public who can continue to gamble in Las Vegas or Atlantic City, on Indian tribal lands and trackside, but who some in the government believe cannot be trusted to enjoy the same leisure activities online in the comfort of their own homes.
