Hi Leute!
Kurs heute in New York: 7,25 $

Hi Micky

Leute bleibt mal locker!
Wie oben bereits angesprochen, hatte good old Kosto recht.
"Kaufst Du Dir Aktien, dann gähst Du zu Apothäke, kaufst Dir, Schlafmittel, schläfst Du 4 Jahre, wirst Du wach, bist Du reich!"
eToys Pleite gehen?
Wieso?

eToys gets boost from plans for marketing blitz (ETYS)
Investors are fighting over eToys (ETYS), bidding the online toy retailer`s shares 23 percent higher in heavy early trading. The stock is up 1 9/32 to 6 3/4 on volume of 829,000 shares.

EToys loss triples, expects profit in 2002
In story headlined "EToys loss triples, expects profit in 2002," read in first paragraph
"fourth-quarter fiscal loss," instead of "fourth fiscal loss." (Adds dropped word) A corrected
version follows.
NEW YORK, April 27 (Reuters) - Online toy retailer eToys Inc. <ETYS.O> on Thursday
reported that its fourth-quarter fiscal loss more than tripled from the year-earlier period, but said it
expects to be profitable by 2002.
The Santa Monica, Calif.-based company reported a net loss of $48.4 million, or 40 cents a share,
for its fourth fiscal quarter ended March 31. For the same quarter in 1999, net loss was $13.2
million, or 15 cents a share.
Excluding deferred compensation and goodwill amortization the loss per share was 30 cents,
beating the Wall Street consensus forecast of a loss of 32 cents per share.
The company said it expects overall operating losses to significantly decrease as a percentage of
sales in the coming year. EToys said net sales for its fourth quarter were $23.0 million, up from
$6.1 million for the same period last year. It added 226,800 new customers in the latest quarter.
Shares in eToys fell 1-1/4 to 8-1/4 on Thursday morning in Instinet trade from their Nasdaq close
on Wednesday.

Hey,

NBC- MARKET WRAP
ETOYS (ETYS) PRESIDENT, CEO AND FOUNDER TOBY LENK WITH A COMPANY UPDATE
APRIL 27, 2000
SUMMARY: Lenk discusses seasonality of the eToys (ETYS) business. He says the company posted
very strong customer acquisition costs. He comments on the profitability and growth of the company.
Ted: In the "Internet Investor" today, eToys reported slightly narrower than expected losses this
morning on revenues that were in line with consensus forecasts. But the news did little to help eToys
stock, which got hit hard. Losing 25% of market value, down two and change to seven and change.
"The Wall Street Journal`s" Steve Frank joins us now with more.
Steve: Thanks very much. It was a tough day for eToys despite numbers and the fact that the company
said it will be profitable at least domestically in the year 2002. Just to review today`s numbers, losses
came in at 30 cents a share. That is compared to the expected loss of 32 cents share. Revenues
tripled over a year ago to 23 million dollars, though, of course, that is a sharp drop from what they were
in the previous Christmas quarter. Joining us to discuss the company results and future from Los
Angeles, California, or thereabouts ,is eToys President Chief Executive Officer and founder, Toby Lenk.
Welcome back.
Good to talk to you again.
Steve: Obviously, some very seasonal results here, strong relative to what analysts were expecting but
sharply down from the Christmas quarter. You have announced this eight million dollar summer time
marketing campaign to get around seasonality. What is it you hope to accomplish? Will you ever be
able to eliminate seasonality from your results?
Well, in the children`s business, we are always going to be a bit seasonal. We are always going to see,
even when we get stabilized a few years down the road, the March quarter is always a lot quieter and
lower than the holiday quarter. But the summer campaign is designed to let people know, we are a
year-round resource, to let them buy a great things for kids year-round, and to solve problems. It is
there to build shares mind on a year-round basis. We are really excited about it, and we are going to
have over a thousand fantastic products. So, this is the right time for it.
Steve: Will this do a lot to raise your customer acquisition cost?
Well, you really need to look at customer acquisition cost on an annualized basis. We posted very
strong customer acquisition costs for the full year we just finished at 36 dollars a head. And for the
March quarter it was actually down at 24 dollars for customer acquisition costs. This is a lot because of
we do brand building on a year round basis. You have to look at metrics on an annualized basis, and
not look at just the holiday quarter. Don`t look at just the off-season quarter.
Steve: There has been talk of adding advertising to your site. That could also potentially reduce that
seasonal effect. Any thought about that?
Yes, certainly. When you get into sponsorships and modernization revenue, that is revenue that does
decrease seasonality, particularly when that drops right to the bottom line. So when you look at bottom
line, it has an even more dramatic impact on seasonality than just revenue.
Steve: You talked today in a conference call about reaching profitability at least domestically by the
year 2002. You also acknowledged that at some point before then, you are going to need to raise
additional cash. With your stock, along with all the business-to-consumer stocks, having gotten hit so
hard over the last few weeks and months, how are you going to raise that cash? I mean can we look for
some equity or convertible debt offering or are you more likely to do a private transaction?
The key message is that we have a tremendous amount of cash to aggressively pursue our growth
plans this year and through the holiday season and into 2001. So, we will be careful about how we
raise money. And, I`m not commenting specifically on how the form it might take. But we are very
confident that the business metrics we have built, we just finished the year at about 150 million dollars
in revenue, up five fold, all the fundamental building blocks, the high order size, the gross margins, the
customer acquisition costs, are very, very solid. So we are very confident that we will be able to raise
cash.
Steve: Is cash raising a near term proposition?
We are actively exploring that, but again, because we are in a strong position with cash, we will be very
careful and opportunistic about how we do it.
Steve: To a viewer question, e-mailed from a viewer Binny. He writes, do you see any mergers taking
place to increase profitability?
Well, you know, I think that we have demonstrated with our rapid growth, with 150 million dollars, that
we are probably one of the fastest, if not the fastest growth to 150 million dollars. You have seen, in our
evolution. We have only been marketing the company for 18 months. We are a very strong independent
brand, able to grow very solidly. We see a very clear path now, in terms how far we are getting, to
profitability. So, we have a big opportunity to grow as an independent company. And, that is what we
are focusing on.
Steve: Are you ruling it out?
You never rule out anything, but we are very focused on the big opportunity we have at hand.
Steve: Again, the issue of domestic profitability implies that you are still going to lose money overseas.
How are you dealing with that issue? Are you going to be breaking out overseas, reporting results
separately or incorporate?
Sure, Steve, yeah. In our press release, we broke out the results for our U.K. operations for the past six
months, and we are structuring operations over there to be a separate company. And there are a lot of
reasons for that. You want to have employees in Europe to have equity that is tied to their performance
more directly, and that is one reason. The other reason is you want to have the U.S. shareholders, who
really want to see us grow to profitability domestically. And it makes sense to have a different set of
shareholders invest to help grow the European business.
Steve: Okay, Toby Lenk. Thanks for joining us.
Thank you very much.
Steve: Ted, back to you.
