      Quelle: http://news.monstersandcritics.com/business/news/article_131…

      Jun 20, 2007, 10:23 GMT

Lusaka - All Zambia's nine provinces have been earmarked for new mining projects as strong demand and high prices on the international market trigger a scramble by investors for minerals deposits, according to Mines Minister Kalombo Mwansa.

In a special Television Zambia broadcast late Tuesday, Mwansa said projects amounting to billions of dollars of investment would commence around the country over the coming year.

Tentative mineral exploration across the country by a clutch of investors revealed vast mineral deposits, the exploitation of which would require massive local and international investment, he said.

Chongwe district in Lusaka province, Mkushi in Central province, Petauke in Eastern province and Munali Hills in Southern province were examples of areas where new deposits had been found, he said.

To date, some 3 billion dollars have been invested in Zambian mining, mostly in copper, amid projections that figure will rise to around 4.5 billion dollars within the next two years.

The discovery of uranium in North-Western and Southern provinces augured well for the economy, projected to grow by an average 7 per cent over the next three years, said Mwansa.

Albidon Zambia Ltd and Australia's Equinox Minerals Ltd have discovered substantial quantities of uranium and copper deposits at their operations in north-western and southern Zambia respectively.

The government of President Levy Mwanawasa has been praised by investors for its sound fiscal policies and tough line on corruption.

The country's roads and communications network, however, require upgrading to enable the movement of goods and services in and out of mining areas.

North-Western Railways announced this week it had secured 250 million dollars in financing from Britain, South Africa and the United States to build a rail link to the northern Copperbelt region.

Allen die hier investiert sind herzlichen Glückwunsch!

For the quarter ended September 30, 2007 Caledonia reported revenue of $1.95 million from the Blanket gold mine on sales of 2,262 ounces of gold and a net loss of $935,000 or ($0.002) per fully diluted share. Gold revenue for the quarter has been boosted by $454,000 due to retrospective changes made by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe to the gold support price. Additional revenue was received in the third quarter for gold sold in the second quarter.

The loss for the quarter mainly results from an unrealised foreign exchange loss of $1.01 million being recorded due to the revision in the rate of exchange announced by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe. The rapid devaluation of the Zimbabwe dollar versus the US dollar affects the carrying value of the US dollar denominated loan of $5.7 million that Blanket Mine owes to Caledonia Mining and results in an unrealized foreign exchange loss on translation.

Gold production of 2,448 ounces for the quarter was impacted by severe power shortages and foreign currency availability problems. Despite these challenges, the No.4 shaft has been partially commissioned enabling the mine to resume underground operations at the forecast production level of up to 600 tonnes per day. By the end of October the equipping of the shaft to the bottom 24 level was completed. In an attempt to minimize future power shortages, the Blanket mine has negotiated an agreement with the power authority ZESA to provide an uninterrupted power supply in return for payment in US dollars. If a continuous power supply materializes there is an opportunity to increase gold production in the fourth quarter. Gold production in October amounted to 1,595 ounces. However the overall completion date for the No.4 shaft refurbishment has been extended to the second quarter of 2008 as the foreign currency shortages have impacted on Blanket's ability to purchase the required additional equipment and materials to complete the expansion project as originally planned.

Commenting on the results, Stefan Hayden, President and CEO, said "In view of the extremely challenging operating environment we are currently experiencing in Zimbabwe, I believe Blanket's gold production of 2,448 ounces is a solid performance.

The lack of hard currency funds and the severe power shortages have impacted both production this quarter as well as the No.4 shaft expansion timetable which we are now anticipating to complete by the second quarter of 2008, provided the operating environment does not deteriorate further.

Looking ahead we hope the newly negotiated power agreement will improve the power supply going forward, which would enable us to increase production during the fourth quarter as evidenced by the increased production in October. However the foreign currency shortages could still hamper our operational efforts.

The 2007 Nama drilling program is now complete for the year, having targeted anomalies A, C and D. Resource modeling for these anomalies is planned for the fourth quarter 2007, with a new NI 43-101 resource planned by the end of the first quarter 2008.

During the quarter the Environmental Impact Assessment ("EIA") for the new access road and power line was completed and is in the process of being submitted to the Environmental Council of Zambia for final approval. This EIA will be expanded to cover the anticipated future mining operations."

Caledonia Mining Announces Cobalt Off-Take Agreement With Large Chinese Refiner
      1/29/2008

TORONTO, ONTARIO, Jan 29, 2008 (Marketwire via COMTEX News Network) --
Caledonia Mining Corporation ("Caledonia") (TSX:CAL)(OTCBB:CALVF)(AIM:CMCL) is pleased to announce the signing of a cobalt off-take agreement with a large Chinese refiner. Under the terms of the agreement, Caledonia will supply a minimum of 21,000 tonnes of cobalt metal equivalent in the form of cobalt hydroxide from its Nama Cobalt Project over the next six years. The agreement specifies that the price shall be based on the published monthly average for 99.3% cobalt from the London Metal Exchange, and contains a guaranteed "Take or Pay" minimum cobalt price of US$12/lb of cobalt metal. The agreement is renewable.
Caledonia's 100% owned Nama Project is located in Northern Zambia. Caledonia plans to commence mining Anomalies "A" and "C" using open pit mining methods, pre-concentration and conventional cobalt extractive technology.

Caledonia is proceeding with detailed mine planning and is targeting commencement of production by early 2009 at an expected annual production level of 10,000 tonnes of cobalt metal. An internal feasibility study has estimated capital expenditure at US$125 million and production costs below US$10/lb. The cobalt project will become the main strategic focus for Caledonia going forward.

Commenting on the announcement, Stefan Hayden, President and CEO of Caledonia Mining said "The signing of this cobalt off-take agreement marks an important milestone for Caledonia as we commence with the development of Nama, which I expect will prove to be one of the world's largest primary cobalt deposits. In the context of current spot prices for cobalt of US$44/lb and the floor price of US$12/lb, this contract represents substantial value and confirms Caledonia's potential to become one of the key primary players in the cobalt market. Negotiations on further agreements with refiners continue. With rising demand from China, India and America, we believe the fundamentals for cobalt remain robust in the near-term."

Further information regarding Caledonia's exploration activities and operations along with its latest financials may be found at www.caledoniamining.com.

      2/25/2008

TORONTO, ONTARIO, Feb 25, 2008 (Marketwire via COMTEX News Network) --
Caledonia Mining Corporation ("Caledonia")(TSX:CAL)(OTCBB:CALVF)(AIM:CMCL) is pleased to announce it has accepted an offer for the purchase of the loan account and the entire issued share capital of Barbrook Mines Limited ("Barbrook Mines") in South Africa by Eastern Goldfields, Inc. Limited (OTCBB:EGDD) for R70 million (approximately $9.1 million). The proposed transaction is to be implemented through one of the Eastern Goldfields' subsidiaries in South Africa.

The offer is to be settled in cash within 60 days of Caledonia's acceptance of the offer and is subject to certain normal suspensive conditions some of which must be fulfilled within 30 days and the others within 60 days. There is a break fee of R250,000 (approximately $32,000).

Barbrook Mines is a wholly owned subsidiary of Caledonia and includes assets & liabilities of the Barbrook Gold Mine, located in the Barberton region in South Africa. The mine has been on care and maintenance since November 10, 2006. As at September 30, 2007 Barbrook had a carrying value of $9.4 million on the Caledonia balance sheet and in the nine month period ended September 30, 2007 generated losses of $0.37 million.

The sale of Barbrook Mines enables management to focus on the development of the Nama Cobalt Project in Zambia and on the producing Blanket gold mine in Zimbabwe. Proceeds from the sale will be used to further advance the Nama Project. An independent feasibility study of Nama is due during the second quarter of 2008.

Negotiations for the sale of Eersteling Gold Mine in South Africa continue.

      Last Update: 3/11/2008 9:02:09 AM

TORONTO, ONTARIO, Mar 11, 2008 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX) -- Caledonia Mining Corporation ("Caledonia")(TSX: CAL) (CALVF)(AIM: CMCL) is pleased to announce its wholly owned subsidiary company Caledonia Nama Limited ("Nama") has signed two more cobalt off-take agreements with large Chinese refiners. This now brings Nama's contractual commitments for the Nama Cobalt Project between 2009 and 2013 to a total of 35,560 tonnes (+/-10% at Nama's option) of cobalt metal equivalent.

Under the terms of these two new agreements Nama will supply a minimum of 16,560 tonnes of cobalt metal equivalent, in the form of cobalt hydroxide, from the Nama Cobalt Project from 2009 until 2013. These agreements, in common with the first agreement announced on January 29, 2008, specify that the price shall be based on the published monthly average quotation for Cobalt low grade on the London Metal Bulletin and contain a guaranteed "Take or Pay" minimum cobalt price of US$12/lb.

The Nama Cobalt Project is located in Northern Zambia. Nama plans to commence mining Anomalies "A" and "C" using open pit mining methods, pre-concentration and conventional cobalt extractive technology. Detailed mine planning is underway and the Company expects to commence operations in early 2009.

Commenting on the announcement Stefan Hayden, President and CEO, said "The completion of the three long term supply contracts underpins the initial planned production capacity at Nama. The signing of these two additional contracts further demonstrates the strong demand for cobalt in China and confirms the attractiveness of the Nama Project, as a primary cobalt producer, to refiners. Caledonia continues to progress the Nama Project towards production as rapidly as possible."

Negotiations on additional contracts are continuing and will be announced once finally concluded.
