WellPoint erzielt Gewinnsteigerung im ersten Quartal

Indianapolis - Die WellPoint Inc. (ISIN US94973V1070 (Nachrichten)/ WKN A0DNLY), der nach Mitgliederzahlen größte Krankenversicherer in den USA, meldete am Mittwoch, dass sie im ersten Quartal eine Gewinnsteigerung um 7 Prozent erzielt hat, was auf erhöhte Mitgliederzahlen zurückzuführen ist.

Der Nettogewinn belief sich auf 783,1 Mio. Dollar bzw. 1,26 Dollar pro Aktie, nach 731,8 Mio. Dollar bzw. 1,09 Dollar pro Aktie im Vorjahr. Der Umsatz verbesserte sich um 9 Prozent auf 15,08 Mrd. Dollar.

Analysten waren im Vorfeld von einem Gewinn von 1,26 Dollar pro Aktie und einem Umsatz von 15,08 Mrd. Dollar ausgegangen. Für das laufende Quartal sehen sie ein EPS-Ergebnis von 1,36 Dollar bei Erlösen von 15,37 Mrd. Dollar.
