Thermal Energy Signs MOU with Jiangnan Boilers and Pressure Vessels Co. (JBPV) to Develop Energy Recovery Joint Venture in China
Tuesday June 19, 6:50 am ET

Major manufacturing and sales capacity to help TEI enter target Chinese markets
ZHANGJIAGANG, China, June 19 /CNW Telbec/ - Thermal Energy International Inc. (TSX-V: TMG - News; www.thermalenergy.com) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop a joint venture with the Jiangnan Boilers and Pressure Vessels Company, Ltd., (JBPV), to deploy TEI's energy recovery solutions in key Chinese markets.

JBPV (www.jbpv.com) is located in central China in Jiangsu Province. It has been in business for more than 35 years, with a staff of over 500 and full industrial manufacturing facilities, with revenues equivalent to approximately $90 million a year. It serves the chemical fertilizer, medical, oil and chemical industries in China and works with a number of international companies such as York International, BASF, SECCO, Inc., and SPX Corp. JBPV is a subsidiary of Jiangsu Huachang (Group) Co., Ltd. (www.huachanggroup.com) a multi-billion dollar, national large scale chemical enterprise group with 19 large businesses under its umbrella.

"Based on our understanding of the Chinese energy and energy saving markets, we believe that TEI's heat recovery technology has a great market potential and we are in the process of identifying one or more demonstration projects," said Mr. Xu Yu, General Manager of JBPV. "Once the demonstration is completed successfully, we will commit significant resources to promote this technology, in hope of rapidly occupying the markets in different sectors across China."

The joint venture will leverage JBPV's considerable knowledge, skills, relationships, and capacity to manufacture Thermal Energy's solutions such as FLU-ACE(R) heat recovery systems in China at a very competitive level. This high-quality manufacturing capacity will also enable Thermal Energy to source some of its products and components from China to provide even more cost competitive solutions to North American customers.

"A joint venture with Jiangnan will provide Thermal Energy with substantial in-country strength in manufacturing, engineering, sales and marketing as well as access to existing business relationships needed to properly enter the very competitive Chinese market place," said President and CEO Tim Angus. "We believe JBPV will be an excellent partner to help us build on our current efforts in China which include active proposals and negotiations with some of the largest pulp and paper manufacturers. Other target markets would include hospitals, textiles, and the chemical fertilizer industry.

"JBPV also has the capacity to quickly develop a FLU-ACE(R) pilot project in China which will provide us with a local technology showcase site to demonstrate the value our solutions can provide in energy savings and emission reduction, which are two main priorities for Chinese governments at all levels," said Mr. Angus.

Thermal Energy to Market GEM(R) Condensate Return System in China
Thursday June 28, 1:11 pm ET

Unique steam-saving technology also in trials with Canadian Federal Government Dept.
OTTAWA, June 28 /CNW Telbec/ - Thermal Energy International Inc. (TSX-V: TMG - News; www.thermalenergy.com) is pleased to announce it has reached an agreement with Gardner Energy Management of Bristol, UK, to market its GEM(R) Condensate Return System in China.

China represents a multi billion dollar market for condensate return systems and is the fastest growing steam systems market in the world. Thermal has been actively promoting the GEM(R) technology to large Chinese industrial customers for several months and has active advanced proposals in place.

"China represents a magnificent opportunity for the retrofit and new installation of the very unique GEM(R) technology," said Thermal Energy President and CEO Tim Angus. "We are thrilled to have reached an agreement with our partner Gardner Energy Management to market the technology in China."

A number of reports on steam audits in China's various industrial sectors show significantly higher failure rates for traditional types of steam traps than in North America or Europe. Some audits have shown failure rates in the 50% to 60% range.

The central Chinese government's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) set a unit energy consumption reduction target of 20% for the five-year period from 2006 to 2010. A list of energy-saving products is being drawn up by the central government, the use of which will result in tax preferences. Higher export taxes will be imposed to dissuade companies from exporting goods that involve a high consumption of energy and cause serious pollution. Thermal Energy hopes to have the GEM(R) system qualify for this list.

Thermal Energy is also pleased to have received an order from a key Canadian Federal Government department for a trial of GEM(R) technology at an Ontario facility with a large district heating system.

"We welcome this opportunity to install and demonstrate the benefits of the GEM(R) technology with a government client," said Anthony Pugliese, Thermal Energy VP Sales. "There are dozens of major district heating systems in federal government facilities containing thousands of steam traps which could be replaced with more efficient, permanent GEM(R) traps, providing significant ongoing energy and CO2 reductions."

The GEM(R) Condensate Return System is the first major advancement in steam trap technology in over 100 years. With no moving parts, the traps are offered with an unprecedented 10-year, no-fail guarantee and offer up to 50% savings in the cost of steam production over traditional steam traps, through reduced leakage and maintenance.
