      Liebe Leidensgenossen,

      Platin, Palladium, Nickel, Kupfer, Gold.

      Alles ist möglich.

      Übrigens, hier ist er:

We are halted... AWESOME JOB, Mr. Nemis. I like your style.

I have 2 lines of thought here. Snezzer, you might agree with me on point #2.

      1) We are halted for good news. Ask yourself a very important question: what could possibly come out as far as bad news that would cause the shareprice to drop significantly, which is criteria as far as a trading halt pending news - significant news that will affect share price. I think the only bad news that could POSSIBLY be coming that would adversly affect the shareprice negatively would be that Russia nuked the McFaulds area and no one can go there to do any work for a thousand years because of radioactive fallout... don't think that's the case, though. OK, then good news it is : - }

      2) I am torn on point 2. I want the halt to last at least 48 hours. The longer the trading halt, the better the news will be. Why? Because if the news is regarding a joint partnership, it will be released within 1-2 hours. This is really good news if that is what it is. My second thought is that there is visual drill core coming and if that is the case, they just might wait for a day or two to see how many meters of core they actually pull out of the ground. The longer we wait, the longer the drill core may be. That would be the best case scenario, in my mind. There is 1 huge drawback to this kind of halt that lasts for more than 1 day, however. I WILL NOT BE SLEEPING UNTIL THE NEWS IS RELEASED. If that is not for 48 hours, I will be a "certified basket case" by the time news is out. Snezzer, I think you might know what I am talking about, along with a few others. Hey, maybe all the others...

Cheers everyone, and don't forget Mr. Nemis' statement last month... THERE IS NO BAD NEWS!!!

      God Bless all NOT shareholders.

Noront Resources Ltd.: Highest Grade Hole to Date Encountered at Eagle One
Monday January 28, 10:47 am ET

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(MARKET WIRE)--Jan 28, 2008 -- Noront Resources Ltd. ("Noront") (CDNX:NOT.V - News) is pleased to announce the receipt of assays on hole NOT-07-27 and 29 on its 100%-owned Eagle One occurrence within Noront's Double Eagle Project in the McFauld's Lake Area of northeastern Ontario. "The results from hole 27 are the highest grade encountered to date. This hole is quite significant as it contains high gold values within the massive sulphide zone not seen in earlier holes, and it extends the high grade massive sulphide zone to depth on this section. Results include thirty-five meters of massive sulphide averaging 7.91% nickel, 3.45% copper, 1.66 grams per tonne platinum and 12.79 grams per tonne palladium, along with 3.87 grams per tonne gold and 9.27 grams per tonne silver. Our immediate drill objectives are to complete infill drilling as required for resource estimate calculations and to begin drill testing several high-priority geophysical targets within the Double Eagle project area" states Richard Nemis, President and CEO of Noront.

Due to the irregular shape of the Eagle One Magmatic Massive Sulphide body, the drill intersections presented above are not true width. True width determinations will be referred to once the resource estimate is completed. Drill collar locations for holes NOT-07-27 and 29 have been presented in earlier press releases (see press releases dated December 21, 2007 and December 13, 2007).

      Drilling Update (new holes completed)

Hole NOT-07-28 was drilled at local grid collar location 51+74E at 10+69N with a dip of 51 degrees along an azimuth of 270 degrees, being the same location as hole NOT-07-26 that was earlier abandoned. After 14.8 meters of overburden and limestone this hole entered granodiorite until 128.1 meters when olivine gabbro was encountered until 140.1 meters. Between 140.1 and 169 meters, peridotite was encountered, followed by mineralized peridotite to 175 meters. Net textured mineralized peridotite was then encountered and the hole remained in this rock unit until 217 meters. A thin zone of massive sulphide mineralization was encountered between 217 meters and 218.5, followed by net-textured mineralized peridotite to 223.2 meters. Mineralization was then encountered between 223.2 and 242.2 meters for a total mineralized length of 73.2 meters, followed by granodiorite to the end of hole at 253 meters.

Hole NOT-08-30 has started, positioned at local grid collar location 50+80E at 11+46N with an initial azimuth of 090 degrees, and an initial dip of -45 degrees. This hole is designed to test the Eagle One occurrence on the same section as hole NOT-07-24 and NOT-07-28. The hole entered limestone at 9 meters, then into a granodiorite regolith until 12.5 meters. Massive sulphide and net-textured mineralized sulphides mixed with semi-massive sulphides were then intersected to 20.6 meters. A narrow felsic dike was encountered between 20.6 and 21.7 meters, followed by net textured mineralization until 99 meters for a total mineralized length of 86.5 meters. The hole encountered peridotite/gabbro until 114 meters after which granodiorite was encountered.

Assay results are pending for holes NOT-07-20 through to 26 as well as hole 28. Due to the presence of rhodium in selected samples, additional sampling is underway on all earlier holes to determine the presence of rhodium in this Platinum Group Element enriched massive sulphide occurrence.

Start Up of 2008 Winter Operations

Field crews have now returned to the project area. The line cutting crew and geophysical crews along with the geological team arrived in early January. The first drill crew arrived during the first week of January to complete hole 28 started prior to the Christmas break. Aeroquest returned to the area during the second week of January and has commenced the continuation of the airborne program around the remainder of the "Ring of Fire". Two new drills have also arrived at the project site, contracted from Forage Orbit Garant of Val D'Or Quebec. Both of these rigs are now on site and have commenced drilling. Photos of these two new drill rigs can be found by following the link: http://www.norontresources.com/projects/double-eagle/index.h…

Ground geophysical surveys are now underway to define several anomalies detected in recently completed Aeroquest airborne surveys. The exploratory drill program will initially focus on these anomalies with one drill dedicated to testing anomalies, the other two drills will continue drilling holes at Eagle One as needed for a compliant resource estimate. Drill pattern is set at 37.5 meter pierce point spacing, felt by management as sufficient for resource definition for this type of mineral occurrence.

On Site Quality Assurance / Quality Control Measures

The aforementioned assay and sample information, as well as geological descriptions are taken from drill logs as prepared by the Project geologist for the drill program, Mike Kilbourne. Billiken Management Services Inc. is providing all services on site for the Noront Double Eagle Project, from their base camp at McFaulds Lake. Billiken is a holder of Certificate of Authorization issued by the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario.

All assay work and sampling procedures have been included in earlier news releases. Chain of Custody includes delivery to ALS Chemex Laboratory in Vancouver BC, where all samples undergo analysis using ALS Chemex assay procedure AA46 for nickel, copper and silver, and ICP24 for Au, Pt, and Pd. When samples received over-limit values they underwent further analysis using ALS Chemex assay procedure ICP27 (for gold, platinum and palladium), as well as GRA21 for gold. The reader is referred to: www.alschemex.com for details of these analytical procedures.

Independent Quality Assurance and Quality Control Protocol

Gold, platinum and palladium are assayed using fire assay on a 50 gram nominal sample weight with an ICP-AES finish. Nickel and copper are assayed using aqua regia (3-acid) digestion with either ICP-AES or AAS finish. A comprehensive QA/QC program has been implemented to monitor all assays on the Double Eagle Project. Samples are assembled in numbered batches of 77 samples, which equates to the number of client samples per furnace batch at ALS Chemex. Included in each batch of 77 samples are 4 certified reference material samples, 3 blank samples comprised of sterile drill core, and 4 field duplicate samples. This QC program was set up for Noront by Tracy Armstrong P.Geo, of P&E Mining Consultants Inc. ("P&E") of Brampton, Ontario. Ms. Armstrong is a qualified geologist in the Provinces of Ontario and Quebec. Assay results are being monitored on an on-going, real time basis for accuracy, contamination and precision by P&E. The current sample set will be reviewed by Ms. Armstrong once some additional batches are completed, and will be reported upon in a timely manner.

More nickel, gold found at high-grade Canada strike
Mon Jan 28, 2008 1:59pm EST Print This Article[-] Text [+]
TORONTO (Reuters) - Shares of Canadian mineral explorer Noront Resources (NOT.V: Quote) leaped 17 percent on Monday, after the company announced the highest grade nickel drilling results so far from its Double Eagle project in northern Ontario, and said it had also found notable gold levels within the samples.

The company's shares have risen tenfold since August, when Noront announced high-grade nickel and copper mineralization at the property, located in the remote James Bay region of northern Ontario, about 900 km (560 miles) from Toronto.

Noront said on Monday it had uncovered nickel grading 7.91 percent along a 35-metre zone of hole 27, the highest concentration yet from its drilling program, along with 3.45 percent copper and 3.87 grams per tonne of gold.

"This hole is quite significant as it contains high gold values within the massive sulphide zone not seen in earlier holes," Noront said in a release.

At mid-afternoon, the company's stock was up 58 cents at $4.03 on the TSX Venture Exchange.

The results last year prompted other explorers to rush in and stake claims, and have driven up shares of other players with properties in the region. Their stocks also shot higher on Monday.

MacDonald Mines (BMK.V: Quote) was up 11 percent at 61 Canadian cents, Spider Resources (SPQ.V: Quote) rose 15 percent to 11.5 Canadian cents, and KWG Resources (KWG.V: Quote) was up 13 percent at 9 Canadian cents, with all trading at several times normal volume.

Investorideas.com Reports on Resource Companies in the McFaulds Lake Area -- the Next Big Base Metal Play?
Tuesday January 29, 9:00 am ET

Who's on Base?... Noront Resources Ltd, MacDonald Mines Exploration Ltd., Hawk Uranium Inc., KWG Resources Inc., Spider Resources Inc. and a Growing List of Juniors

POINT ROBERTS, WA and DELTA, BC--(MARKET WIRE)--Jan 29, 2008 -- www.InvestorIdeas.com, a leading global investor and industry research resource portal covering mining stocks, reports on the McFaulds Lake Area, a highly followed base metal play. The McFaulds "Ring of Fire" will be one of the plays discussed in the third Investor Ideas online investor mining conference to be held February 27, 2008, themed: "The Global Hunt for Commodities - Finding the Next Big Play in Mining Stocks."

In a volatile market, investors continue to speculate on one of the hottest potential mining plays to come around in a while and the juniors are lining up to follow the money.

A growing number of resource companies have joined Noront Resources Ltd (CDNX:NOT.V - News) in the McFaulds Lake "Ring of Fire" area including : MacDonald Mines Exploration Ltd. (CDNX:BMK.V - News), KWG Resources Inc. (Market, News), Spider Resources (Market, News) and Hawk Uranium Inc. (CDNX:HUI.V - News).

Hawk Uranium Inc. (CDNX:HUI.V - News) will be one of many publicly traded mining companies presenting with leading industry resource experts, in the upcoming Investorideas.com online investor conference.

Hawk's President Vance White commented regarding their McFaulds properties, "We are very pleased to have an opportunity to be part of the McFaulds 'Ring of Fire' play by participating with the two major players in the area. We have had a long standing relationship with the principals of both Noront and MacDonald. Both companies have excellent management teams and exploration personnel."

"I believe that the Noront discovery will become a very significant discovery and the McFaulds district; a significant new mining district. This entire play will evolve over the next few years. One must remember that this area of Northern Ontario is a very under explored area and with the advent of modern geophysical techniques and equipment a number of new discoveries could well come out of the area. Also with the construction of the road into the DeBeers Victory diamond mine one will have greater and easier access to the area."

Brent Nykoliation, Director of Business Development, MacDonald Mines Exploration (CDNX:BMK.V - News), noted, "We are very pleased to announce that a major drill program on MacDonald and Joint Venture ground with Temex Resources, Baltic Resources and Hawk Uranium will commence in February. We will be moving a second drill into the area in early March and anticipate that MacDonald Mines along with 5 or 6 other companies will be fully engaged in winter/spring drill programs."

He went on to say, "We anticipate that the current airborne survey will produce multiple geophysical targets on both the MacDonald Mines and Joint Venture ground, Equally important to note, MacDonald Mines still has very good targets on the McNugget, Big Mac and the Joint Venture Property with Hawk Uranium that were identified from its previous airborne survey and still must be drill tested."

In any sector -- it's wise to research who is investing the "smart money." In the center of this play is IBK Capital Corp. of Toronto, who has provided private placements for several of the key players, starting with Noront Resources: $35 million, in addition to MacDonald Mines: $10.5 million, Hawk Uranium: $2 million, Spider Resources: $2.76 million and Seafield Resources: $0.85 million. IBK continues to raise funds for other companies active on the Ring.

According to Michael White, Vice President of IBK Capital, "Noront's Eagle One deposit is a world class nickel-copper-platinum-palladium discovery. Results to date are very encouraging and warrant substantial follow-up by Noront and others in this area now dubbed the Ring of Fire. The Ring of Fire is three times the size of the Sudbury Basin and will require considerable funding for exploration going forward. The combined budgets of companies exploring on the ring already total $60 million for 2008 and we believe $250 million will be spent on exploration over the next five years. We are delighted to be involved with this world class discovery and pleased to provide investment banking services to strong management teams committed to the area. To date we have raised over $50 million dollars for companies active on the Ring of Fire."

The Company that made the area known to investors, Noront Resources Ltd., is also the most aggressive in the area, reports the company.

According to Noront's President, Richard Nemis, "Many investors and Mining Analysts have indeed compared Noront's Eagle One Nickel-Copper-PGE discovery to other significant historical mining plays in Canada, including; Voisey's Bay and Hemlo. This project, although only a few months old, has already attracted the attention of many new investors while rewarding old investors for their support of Noront over many, many years. The discovery has raised the eyebrows of many senior explorers that are watching from a distance, the developing exploration play by many 'Bay Street juniors' as these company's assemble strategic land positions around the Ring of Fire. This comparison is likely due to the market attention, as well as the staking rush that has happened over the past 3 or 4 months in this isolated region of Northern Ontario, however the comparison is not likely to do with the geology of these two world class mining projects, as the geology of the Eagle One occurrence is quite different from that of Hemlo or Voisey's Bay. Eagle One is a magmatic massive sulphide, bearing some genetic similarities to Voisey's Bay, however, Eagle One has quite high levels of Platinum and Palladium along with the high nickel and copper content, the likes of which are not seen in Voisey's Bay Cu-Ni-Co deposits. Noront would compare the geology and mineralization to that of the many Ni-Cu-PGE occurrences and deposits (including Xstrata's Raglan deposit) in the Ungava Region, Northern Quebec, where similar grades of these base and precious metals are found."

"Noront is currently the most aggressive company in the area with respect to drilling, geophysical surveying, and land acquisition (staking claims and optioning properties that have been assembled or maintained by other explorers in the area). Noront is looking at the Double Eagle project as a regional play, has commenced a region wide airborne survey, the scope of which will rival those done in the past in the other historical areas mentioned above. Based upon information from this survey, Noront will be prioritizing anomalies for ground geophysical and drill test follow-up, starting in early 2008. The drilling will continue on the Eagle One occurrence and in its immediate surrounds, until this occurrence is understood well enough to prepare a preliminary resource estimate. Eagle One will be used as a model by Noront, to look for other look alikes in the immediate vicinity, and as such, the detailed geophysical and geochemical signatures from our ground work will be kept confidential and in-house. This will provide an exploration advantage to Noront in the area over the some of the competition that is new to the area, perhaps prompting others to join forces (JV) with Noront. Noront anticipates a very aggressive exploration campaign throughout 2008 that will hopefully translate into an increase in the shareholder value in the company."

Another name in the "Ring" is Pinetree Capital, (Market, News) who has purchased shares of several junior mining companies exploring the McFaulds Lake, including Noront Resources and MacDonald Mines Exploration.

Other companies with properties in the area include Fancamp Exploration Ltd., Goldeye Explorations Limited, 50:50% Joint Venture Partner, Tribute Minerals Inc and Probe Mines.

For investors following the McFaulds play, follow the leader, Noront, for results and follow the money to see if further capital is invested in the area. Time will tell if this is another historic mining play in Canadian history.

Interesting article by Peter Degraaf appears on Kitco today

      http://www.kitco.com/ind/degraaf/jan292008.html

He comments on the GATA ad set to run this Thursday the 31st in the WSJ.

Interesting to note that one year ago on January 31, 2007 gold was $650 an ounce—today up about 40%.

By the way, did your broker advise you to buy gold...or NOT?

      Expanding Ontario's Mineral Resources
Noront Resources Hits Highest-Grade Mineralization to date at Double Eagle
      2008-01-29
      By Luke Burgess

In September 2007, Noront Resources (TSX-V: NOT) discovered high-grade nickel, copper, platinum, and palladium in drill core over significant widths recovered from the company's 100%-owned Double Eagle property in northeastern Ontario. And share prices took off...
