Otto keeps Calauit faith

Australia’s Otto Energy remains committed to developing the marginal Calauit oilfield off the Philippines with plans to drill an appraisal well in the first quarter of 2009, despite a hitch in tying down a production unit for the project.
The company recently cancelled a contract with China’s Yantai Raffles Shipyard whereby a Yantai subsidiary was to provide Otto with a leased production vessel for the project.
The semi-submersible drilling and production rig was due to have been delivered to Otto in the third quarter of this year for a three-year period.
Otto chief executive Alex Parks told corporatefile.com.au that depending on the results of the appraisal well “we will then commit to an extended production test and subsequently a full field development”.
He said Otto is looking for a farm-in partner to share the appraisal drilling costs.
“Otto acquired 3D seismic over the Calauit fields during 2007, which allowed us to identify what we believe are the sweet spots of the reservoir, so we’re targeting a relatively low-risk appraisal programme with a view to optimising the development,” said Parks.
The field sits in Service Contract 50 off north-west Palawan. The Calauit and Calauit South discoveries, which were made in 1991 and 1992 respectively, contain somewhere between 12 million and 75 million barrels of oil in place, according to Otto.

Speziell für BeTrade: Ich habe im Largo-thread auf Otto Energy hingewiesen, weil Otto in wenigen Wochen in Produktion gehen wird, während es bei Largo noch >2Jahre dauern wird. Deshalb sehe ich für Kapital-Anleger bei Otto in den nächsten Monaten bessere Chancen.

nette sache mit otto energy. der Kursverlauf schreckt mich jedoch noch ein bisschen ab. weil ich den besagten "gesunden aufwärtstrend" (stammt nicht von dir) nicht so richtig erkenne ^^.
Aber wenn Sept. die Produktion startet kanns hier natürlich zu einem Ausbruch kommen

in einer letzte Nacht empfangenen e-mail bezüglich des Standes beim Galoc Projekt SC14c ist nicht nur die Rede von „Korrosion“ an Teilen des Riser-Systems, sondern von Leckagen!!!
Die Aussage "Erstes Öl in der Mitte September" würde ich aufgrund früherer Aussagen als optimistisches Ziel interpretieren und mind. eine Woche drauflegen, also meine persönliche Einschätzung ist "erstes Öl zu erwarten in der Woche ab 22.09.08" ...

We immediately set in place an engineering and detailed procedure planning to recover the lower riser section to surface to replace bulkhead plates and hydraulic fittings prior to introduction of hydrocarbons into the riser system. The associated repair work on the damaged parts is now underway and will take approx. two weeks. Subject to a successful final test and suitable weather conditions, first oil is expected in the mid of September, 2008.

Galoc Production Company (GPC), the operator of the Galoc field off the Philippines, said it would further delay production, this time to replace hydraulic fittings in the field’s subsea equipment after finding accelerated corrosion on the components.
The corrosion was discovered during integrity and inspection by remotely operated vehicle of the subsea system equipment, project partner, GPC said. It said the joint venture partners had decided to replace the fittings before hydrocarbons were introduced to the project’s riser system.
GPC said repair work to the mooring and riser system on the field had been completed after it was damaged when the Rubic Intrepid floating production, storage and offloading vessel disconnected from the field as Typhoon Fengshen approached the area in late June.
It said the repair work on the subsea system had started and first oil at Galoc was now expected in the mid-September.
The Galoc field lies in Service Contract 14-C in 290 metres of water, about 65 kilometres off Palawan, and comprises two wells tied back to the FPSO.
Reserves are estimated at 10 million barrels.
Start-up of the field has been repeatedly delayed by hitches in installing the production system and by poor weather.
