Goldcorp 1st-qtr profit jumps 84 percent on record gold prices, strong Latin American results

NEW YORK (AP) -- Goldcorp Inc. shares jumped in morning trading Monday after the Canadian gold mining company said its first-quarter profit jumped 84 percent on record high prices for the precious metal.

Net income for the three months ended March 31 rose to $229.5 million, or 32 cents per share, compared with $124.9 million, or 18 cents per share, in the year-earlier quarter.

Excluding a one-time gain from selling shares of a silver company, plus nonrecurring charges for tax liabilities and hedges, the Canadian company had adjusted earnings in the recent quarter of 23 cents per share.

Analysts polled by Thomson Financial expected, on average, earnings per share of 21 cents. Such estimates typically exclude one-time gains and charges.

Revenue rose 32 percent to $626.7 million, from $474.2 million last year. Analysts expected revenue of $673.2 million.

The company said it had a record-high realized gold price of $932 per ounce. Gold sales slipped to 517,800 ounces at a total cash cost of $240 per ounce, compared with 527,000 ounces at a total cash cost of $181 per ounce in the 2007 quarter.

Chief Executive Kevin McArthur said the company's "Latin American assets were our strongest performers."

Shares rose 82 cents, or 2.3 percent, to $36.71 in morning trading.

Ist vielleicht ne dumme Frage, aber wir wollen ja alle dazu lernen.
Wieso soll ich wenn ich in D gekauft habe, aber die Aktie in Übersee ihren Haupttradingsitz hat, keine Dividenden bekommen.
Hat jemand dafür nen Link.

Sorry das habe ich dann etwas 2 deutig geschrieben

Ich meinte nur das hier in Deutshclanbd der Kurs meistens höher steht als in Kandada ( vor Eröffnung )

Die Div. müssten eigentlich alle bekommen denke ich

NEW YORK (AP) -- Gold miner Goldcorp Inc. said Monday its board declared a monthly dividend of 1.5 cents.

The Canadian company said the dividend is payable May 27 to shareholders of record May 16.
