Hyflux posts record full-year profit of S$59m

SINGAPORE: Water treatment firm Hyflux has reported record earnings for the financial year ending December 2008.

Profits jumped from S$32.9 million a year ago to S$59 million, despite the global economic slowdown. Its revenue more than doubled last year to hit S$544 million, and things do not seem to be slowing.

In fact, some of Hyflux's projects are ahead of schedule and it has even had requests to further speed up development.

In the year ahead, the group believes its strong cash position means it can afford to be selective with projects.

Hyflux group deputy chief executive officer, Sam Ong, said: "I think we have been selective - in this position of strength of income statement and balance sheet perspective - what we are investing in.

"I think, moving forward, what we want to ensure is that the projects we are investing in will be cash neutral to cash positive from day one."

Hyflux has an order book worth S$1.15b for engineering, procurement and construction work.

It also has a stable recurrent future earnings stream, with S$335 million worth of service-based concessions to be realised over the next 25 to 30 years in places like China and Algeria.

Mr Ong said: "In Tlemcan Algeria, it is a plant that is twice the size of our Singapore desalination plant in Tuas. It is progressing ahead of schedule and on budget."

Hyflux is confident of growth especially from projects in China, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

Hyflux currently has a strong pipeline of 44 plants covering wastewater treatment across China.

In the MENA region, it is completing a plant in Tlemcen, Algeria, along with the world's largest reverse osmosis seawater desalination plant in Magtaa, Oran, Western Algeria. The project is to be completed in early 2011.

Some 94 per cent of Hyflux's total revenue came from China and the MENA region, and though Hyflux is anticipating some slowdown from parts of business in China, it said this will have no major impact on performance in the year to come.

To keep up with its growing business, Hyflux will be recruiting up to 300 more staff worldwide this year.

The company has also reported record dividends of 3.43 cents per share.

Singapur 19.02.2009 (www.emfis.com) Der chinesische Hersteller von Wasseraufbereitungsanlagen Hyflux hat gestern sein Jahresergebnis veröffentlicht. Der Nettogewinn ist bei einem stark gesteigerten Umsatz gegenüber dem Vorjahr um 79 Prozent auf 59 Millionen S-Dollar gestiegen.

Positiv blickt Hyflux auf das Geschäftsjahr 2009. Insbesondere der Fokus auf den Umweltsektor im chinesischen Konjunkturprogramm lässt das Unternehmen auf eine positive Geschäftsentwicklung hoffen.

Die Aktie legte heute nach den Zahlen in Singapur um 5,3 Prozent zu.

Münster, 23 Mäz (newratings.de) - Die Experten vom Börsenbrief "WIN-Guide" stufen die Aktie von Hyflux (ISIN SG1J47889782 / WKN 694426) mit dem Rating "strong buy" ein.

Hyflux besetze eine führende Position in einem äußerst attraktiven Markt, dem die meisten Experten hervorragende Zukunftsperspektiven einräumen würden. Sauberes Wasser stelle die mit Abstand wichtigste Ressource dar, die aber in weiten Teilen der Welt immer knapper werde. Dementsprechend gehöre die Sicherung bzw. der Ausbau der Wasserversorgung zu den zentralen Entwicklungszielen der Vereinten Nationen. Auch dürfte der Sektor dadurch nur unterdurchschnittlich von der aktuellen Wirtschaftskrise betroffen sein, da Investitionen in die Wasserinfrastruktur vielerorts ganz oben auf den Prioritätenlisten der staatlichen Konjunkturprogramme gehören würden.

Diese Stabilität lasse sich auch am Auftragsbestand von Hyflux ablesen, der sich Ende 2008 auf fast 1,5 Mrd. SGD belaufen habe, ein Zuwachs von fast einem Drittel innerhalb eines Jahres. Durch den Einstieg in das Betreibergeschäft erhöhe sich seit Jahren zudem der Anteil der wiederkehrenden Gebühren aus dem Management der Anlagen, die zu einer weiteren Verstetigung der Einnahmenbasis führen sollten. Insgesamt halte man Hyflux für ein ausgesprochen gut aufgestelltes Unternehmen, das nach dem Kurssturz von fast 60 Prozent mit einem KGV09 von 11,5 nun wieder erschwinglich sei.

"With the switch, water can be recycled at the ideal washing temperature of 50 degrees C, resulting in energy savings of 22%. The permeate quality is also better, and we are also optimistic that the water recovery rate can be increased from the current 57% to 70-80%. MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT WITH GENERAL DESALINATION COMPANY
OF THE GREAT SOCIALIST PEOPLE'S LIBYAN ARAB JAMAHIRIYA
Hyflux Ltd (“Hyflux”) is pleased to announce that it has today entered into a Memorandum of Agreement
(“MoA”) with the General Desalination Company (“GDC”), the commercial arm of the Ministry of
Utilities of the Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya.
Pursuant to the terms of the MoA, Hyflux and GDC undertake to each other to conclude negotiations and
reach agreement for the establishment of a number of joint venture companies (“JVCOs”) to develop two
seawater desalination plants (“Plants”) as follows:
1. One seawater desalination plant with a minimum designed capacity of 500,000 m3/day in the east
of Tripoli; and
2. One seawater desalination plant with a minimum designed capacity of 400,000 m3/day in
Benghazi.
Similar to the seawater desalination plants under current construction by Hyflux, the Plants in Libya
would use Hyflux’s ultra filtration membranes and process technology in the production of the reverse
osmosis water. Subject to execution of definitive joint venture agreements, it is anticipated that JVCOs
would develop the Plants on a design, build, own, operate and transfer basis, Hyflux’s wholly-owned
subsidiaries would undertake the initial engineering, procurement and construction works for the Plants,
and joint venture companies would undertake the operation and maintenance works upon testing and
commissioning of the Plants throughout the concession period.
Hyflux shall provide further details with respect to the GDC partnership in subsequent announcements
upon further developments of a material nature.
The project is not expected to have a positive material impact on the Hyflux Group’s earnings per share
for the financial year ending 31December 2009. None of the Directors or substantial shareholders of the
Company has any interest, direct or indirect, in the above transaction, save for their shareholdings in
Hyflux.

Singapur 25.06.2009 (www.emfis.com) Hyflux hat ein Memorandum zum Bau zweier Meerwasser-Entsalzungsanlagen mit der Regierung von Libyen abgeschlossen. Die Anlegen sollen in Tripolis und Bengasi errichtet werden, und gemeinsam von mehreren Venture-Gesellschaften in Besitz von Hyflux und dem libyschen Staat gebaut und betrieben werden. Sie verfügen über Entsalzungskapazitäten von 500.000 (Tripolis) und 400.000 (Bengasi) Kubikmetern Wasser pro Tag.

Das Unternehmen aus Singapur gab keine Auskunft über das Auftragsvolumen. Analysten zufolge könne dieses aber bei umgerechnet rund 680 Millionen Dollar liegen.

Laut Quartalsbericht des letzten Quartals lag das EPS bei ca. 0,05 S$. Dank der gestiegenen Auftragseingänge gehe ich mal konservativ vom gleichen Betrag die nächsten Quartale und im nächsten Jahr aus - das macht dann einen KGV von 15 für 2010. Als teuer bei derzeitigen Zinsniveau und intaktem Wachstum würde ich Hyflux deshalb nicht bezeichnen.

Das 2010er-KGV liege aktuell bei 13. In den letzten Jahren sei das Unternehmen zumeist mit deutlich höheren Multiplikatoren gehandelt worden.
