Dune Energy, Inc. is an independent exploration and development company, with operations focused along the Louisiana/Texas Gulf Coast and the North Texas Fort Worth Basin Barnett Shale. Dune will continue to exploit its existing asset base, seek accretive acquisitions, and enter into additional joint venture drilling programs.
Presently, the company has two core properties. Duneâs south Louisiana Bayou Couba salt dome exploration and development agreement covers fee acreage controlled by ExxonMobil Corp. Coupled with development of relatively shallow development opportunities, management believes this property has enormous subsalt potential. Dune will continue to expand its Barnett Shale operations on the fairway of the prolific Fort Worth Basin. Pursuant to an existing purchase and sale agreement, Dune anticipates the acquisition of additional properties in the Fort Worth Basin in the near term.
In addition, the Welder Ranch, located in Victoria County, Texas, consists of 8,000 acres in the Wilcox trend, and is surrounded by production and infrastructure. Dune recently announced that two wells testing the Wilcox formation will be drilled by Chesapeake Energy Corp., which recently farmed into the acreage. Management remains highly committed to building shareholder value.
