Europe`s Fastest Growing Mobile Operator `ONE` Chooses InfoSpace Platform for Its New Wireless Internet Services
New Service Launched Monday, April 10; Agreement Marks Continuing Momentum of InfoSpace`s European Market Penetration
REDMOND, Wash., April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- InfoSpace (Nasdaq: INSP - news), a leading global provider of information and commerce infrastructure services for wireless devices, merchants and Web sites, and ONE, Austria`s only full-service telecoms provider (mobile, fixed and internet), today announced that ONE has chosen InfoSpace`s comprehensive platform of commerce, information and communication services for the delivery of its new mobile Internet services to its close to 700,000 customers over both short messaging service (SMS) and wireless application protocol (WAP).
(Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/19990625/INSPLOGO )
Through the agreement, ONE customers can now take advantage of next generation wireless Internet services that make the lives of mobile users easier than ever with easy access to a fully integrated address book, calendar and to-do-list and the ability to send and receive messages from any device to any device.
ONE customers now also have the ability to bridge the wired and wireless worlds through InfoSpace`s desktop portal and through their very own password protected Web site, both under the ONE brand. The Desktop Portal offers subscribers instant PC-access to their calendar, address book, to do lists and instant messaging as well as a direct link to ONE`s account management. In addition, users have the option to access this same information through their own personal Web site that they can log on to from any PC connected to the Internet.
``InfoSpace`s combined wired and wireless solution offered us an unparalleled set of applications and services that could be integrated with our existing systems very quickly,`` said Lars P. Reichelt, Chief Marketing Officer of ONE. ``Even more compelling was InfoSpace`s commitment to grow with us and to continue helping us to increase usage and reduce churn. Most importantly, though, the InfoSpace solution fits perfectly with our vision to make our customers` lives easier and to use the mobile device to handle day to day life in a better fashion.``
``Carriers worldwide are recognizing that InfoSpace is unmatched in our ability to quickly get them up and running with innovative communication, information and commerce services, both in the wired and wireless markets,`` said Naveen Jain, chairman and CEO of InfoSpace. ``We are extremely pleased to add ONE to the growing list of leading European carriers offering innovative wireless Internet services built on the InfoSpace platform.``
InfoSpace now has more than 24 carrier relationships worldwide including Vodafone, AT&T, Sprint, Libertel, Dutchtone, Panafon, J Phone, KPN, Omnitel, ONE, diAx, Telfort, Libertel, Ben, Microcell Telecommunications, AirTouch, GTE, US West and Bell Atlantic Mobile. InfoSpace also provides its platform of services to manufacturers such as Nokia, Ericsson and Neopoint.

Wedbush Morgan Starts InfoSpace At Strong Buy, $240 Target (INSP)
(NewsTraders.com)--InfoSpace (INSP) became the darling of Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Scott Sutherland this morning, as he initiated the stock with a "strong buy" recommendation and a $240 price target, commenting that the company is on track to become a "dominant" information platform provider.
Sutherland expects InfoSpace to see "enormous growth," noting that the firm is "well ahead" of the competition, as he named it the contender to lead the way in the information revolution, comparing InfoSpace`s position in Internet infrastructure to that of Microsoft`s (MSFT) in the PC revolution.
"We anticipate the Company will see huge revenue growth on its way to becoming one of the most dominating company`s in the new millenium," the analyst concluded.
With regards to the financial side, Sutherland expects InfoSpace to lose $0.05 per share in 2000, and move into the black in 2001 with per-share earnings of $0.06.
Shares of InfoSpace were at $62.25 at market close yesterday.

GoingPublic jetzt online! www.goingpublic-online.de
WOLFRATSHAUSEN (GoingPublic) - Als Andrew S.
Nissenbaum (25) im GoingPublic Magazin (sh.
02/2000, S. 100 f.) für dieses Jahr eine 50 %ige
Korrektur des NASDAQ voraussagte, haben die Leser
wohl geschmunzelt.
splitbereinigt bei 135 US-$. Indexfonds, die den S&P
abbilden, mußten definitionsgemäß diese Aktie
kaufen.
Letztgenannte Fonds
mußten also innerhalb dieser Spanne handeln.
Das Ergebnis? Yahoo! stieg kräftig an. Warum? Viele

Art Spirale. Volatilität führte zu noch mehr Volatilität.
Eine Situation, die nebenbei bemerkt der "Random
Walk Hypothese" widerspricht.
Yahoo! war also "plötzlich" ein 100 Mrd. US-$
Relative
Bewertung heißt in diesem Fall: "Wie viele
kaputt. Die erwarteten Gewinne dieser Unternehmen
waren mythenhaft. Wenn Microsoft wirklich 600 Mrd.
US-$ wert wäre, müßte das Unternehmen in seiner
Lebenszeit diese Summe minus Buchwert verdienen.
In heutigen Dollars natürlich! Sollte das Unternehmen
100 Jahre bestehen, dann müßte es pro Jahr 6 Mrd.
US-$ (diskontiert) verdienen. Der Markt sah, daß dies
nicht geschehen würde. Das Justizministerium wirkte
dabei natürlich als Katalysator. Doch genug Gerede!

GoingPublic jetzt online! www.goingpublic-online.de
WOLFRATSHAUSEN (GoingPublic) - Als Andrew S.
Nissenbaum (25) im GoingPublic Magazin (sh.
02/2000, S. 100 f.) für dieses Jahr eine 50 %ige
Korrektur des NASDAQ voraussagte, haben die Leser
wohl geschmunzelt.
splitbereinigt bei 135 US-$. Indexfonds, die den S&P
abbilden, mußten definitionsgemäß diese Aktie
kaufen.
Letztgenannte Fonds
mußten also innerhalb dieser Spanne handeln.
Das Ergebnis? Yahoo! stieg kräftig an. Warum? Viele

Merrill: Infospace (INSP; $53 5/8; D-1-1-9)
o Infospace shares have underperformed relative to other leading Internet
Infrastructure stocks in the tech rally of the past couple of days. We
attribute this to a couple of factors. First, many high-profile WAP/wireless
information companies such as Phone.com, Sonera and Extend are down/flat and
INSP could be down in sympathy. And second, there continues to be confusion
over the competitive environment - much of which is unwarranted, in our view.
There have been a number of `me-too` new entrants in the space that have
neither the customer relationships nor the product on the technology side. We
continue to believe that INSP, with 50% of the European operators and 80% of
the U.S. operators is the best positioned player in the wireless portal
segment.
o Infospace is expected to have yet another exceptional quarter. We expect
at least 10-15% upside to our revenue estimate of $16 million (+12%
sequentially). We expect the company to `destroy` (in a good way) our EPS loss
estimate of $(0.12) and come in at least 3-4 cents ahead of expectation.
o The company, in our view, has been instrumental in educating the
marketplace on and driving the global `mcommerce` vision. INSP has delivered
on this vision by signing up the bulk of the world`s wireless operators with
long-term (1-3 year) contracts (that minimize downside risk) and a
usage/subscriber-based fee structure (that locks in potential upside).
o Over the next couple of quarters, we believe the focus will be on 1)
upsell into the existing client base, 2) new operator adds and 3) test launches
of existing operators that are up and running in the first half of the year.
We believe that the company`s scaleable infrastructure, first mover advantage
and growing management depth will contribute to their success in these areas.
INSP has already proven that they can upsell into an existing customer base
with its recent Verizon announcement. New operator adds continue at a
relentless pace with Austria One signed within the past couple of weeks and
more expected to be announced within the next month. And on the usage front,
the key issue is market-driven and not company-specific. That is, it is still
early to tell how fast the subscriber uptake will be on wireless Internet. Our
model assumes 1 million subscribers by the end of Q4 1999 out of a total
estimated US/Europe wireless subscriber base of 245 million (less than 1/2 a
percent).
o
o The stock is currently trading at 31x our 2001 revenue estimate of
$200mil. We expect 3-year revenue growth of about 107% (1999-2002). The
company is likely to exceed this. INSP is also trading at a base case 2001 2-
year PEG ratio of 3x and an upside case PEG ratio of 1x.
o We recently raised our EPS estimates for Infospace in FY 2001 to $0.15
from $0.12. We expect the company to break-even a quarter earlier in 1Q 2001
versus our original estimate of 2Q 2001.
o Infospace remains a favorite in our Internet Infrastructure space.

Vodafone AirTouch CEO Arun Sarin Joins InfoSpace
Arun Sarin Joins InfoSpace From Vodafone AirTouch Where He Was Chief Executive Officer for the US / Asia Pacific Region and Head of Vodafone`s Global Wireless Internet Business; Move Further Strengthens Infospace`s Management Team to Help Drive Continued Growth and Global Expansion
REDMOND, Wash., April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- InfoSpace (Nasdaq: INSP - news) a leading global provider of infrastructure services for wireless devices, merchants and Web sites, today announced that global wireless industry veteran Arun Sarin has joined the Company with the goal to take InfoSpace to new levels and create a global Internet infrastructure powerhouse. Together Arun Sarin, chief executive officer and Naveen Jain, chairman and chief strategist, will guide the Company`s rapid growth and global expansion. Like other notable executive teams, Jain`s visionary leadership coupled with Sarin`s track record for consistently delivering strong growth and impressive operating results, will be the driving forces behind the long-term success of the Company.
(Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/19990625/INSPLOGO )
Sarin, who started with Pacific Telesis/Airtouch in 1984, established AirTouch as the largest wireless company in the world by building profitable cellular ventures in 25 countries and increasing total market capitalization from $10B to $124B. Sarin`s move is testament to InfoSpace`s outstanding success and leadership position as the platform behind the services offered by brand name merchants, portals and wireless carriers.
``The market for InfoSpace`s services reminds me of the cellular market in the mid-eighties,`` said Arun Sarin. ``We knew it was going to be big, but we had no idea how big -- and were continually astounded when subscriber growth far outpaced industry projections, quarter after quarter. From the vantage point of having been the head of Vodafone`s global wireless Internet business, I can tell you that InfoSpace is best positioned to take advantage of the huge opportunity created by the convergence of the two fastest growing industry segments, Internet and wireless.``
With the adoption of InfoSpace`s wireless services platform by more than 25 wireless carriers worldwide and growing importance of the wireless business for the Company, InfoSpace chairman and founder Naveen Jain views the timing of Sarin`s joining the team as ideal.
``When InfoSpace was founded, the technology was built with the underlying belief that the Internet will transcend the PC platform. Recognizing that, we`ve built the most scalable and flexible platform capable of serving a myriad of devices including cellular phones, Web appliances, pagers, televisions and personal digital assistants. We are fundamentally changing the way people communicate, access information, conduct commerce and otherwise manage their lives any time, anywhere and on any device,`` said Naveen Jain.
``It is so exciting to see that our vision is becoming a reality right in front of our eyes. We`re creating a new industry and making the waves, not riding them. Arun`s decision to join InfoSpace is a strong endorsement of our vision, business model and our technology,`` added Jain.

InfoSpace (INSP: news, msgs) shot up 6 7/16, or 12 percent, to 62 3/16 after announcing that it`s beefing up its executive ranks. The company announced that Vodafone AirTouch CEO Arun Sarin will become chief executive officer at InfoSpace. Founder Naveen Jain will remain chairman and visionary.
"I`ll still remain as active," said Jain, in an interview with CBS.MarketWatch.com. "But here`s a man that`s built up AirTouch International in 25 countries."
Indeed, analysts said the hire confirms InfoSpace`s determination to be a leader in the wireless Internet revolution. Sarin brings a lot of "credibility and deep wireless experience and it really is a validation for InfoSpace as well as the wireless Internet opportunity," said Chase H&Q Ripstein.
For his part, Sarin told CBS.MarketWatch that his top priorities are to build up InfoSpace into a global behemoth. "We knew the cellular business was big in the mid-90`s," he said. "We just didn`t know how big, but we know that InfoSpace is in a strong position."

o Signing an All-Star to Your Team: Infospace announced that Arun Sarin
would join the company as CEO. This is basically the business world`s
equivalent of signing an MVP (Most Valuable Player) to your team in the week
before the play-offs. Mr. Sarin is broadly perceived as one of the single most
important senior managers in the wireless sector.
o Mr. Sarin`s Track Record: Mr. Sarin was with Airtouch from 1984,
contributing to its growth from $10 billion in market cap to $124 million. Mr.
Sarin held a number of key strategic positions there including CEO of US/Asia
for Vodaphone Airtouch, President and COO of Airtouch pre-Vodaphone merger,
President and CEO of Airtouch International.
o We expect more and more Internet companies to create a role of Chief
Strategist. This announcement follows a couple of announcements from leading
Internet companies such as Microsoft and Exodus in which the CEO or CFO assumes
the role of Chief Strategist in order to focus on global, strategic issues. We
applaud this and think this trend will accelerate as the Internet grows
increasingly complicated. Naveen Jain, the current CEO will take on the role
of Chief Strategist and Chairman. We believe this is an extremely positive
move as it will enable Naveen Jain to focus on bigger picture global strategic
issues. Also, it offsets a key investor concern regarding a lack of management
depth at the very senior levels.
o The appointment of Mr. Sarin catapults Infospace to a new level within the
Internet sector. We have always believed that this would be one of the top 10
Internet companies in the world within a few years - this fortifies our
conviction. Mr. Sarin is a `blue-chip` CEO with extensive experience in
scaling hyper-growth companies and an almost unparalled understanding of the
wireless landscape. Additionally, given the depth of Mr. Sarin`s tenure at
Vodaphone/Airtouch, we believe the assignment will strengthen Infospace`s
relationship with its most important customer.

Ron: On-line content provider inspace new chrichlt -- ceo founder stepping up out of the ceo slot named former vodafone executive, seran as successor jane will remain chairman strategist for more on this fusion, infospace and thank you both for being with us mr. Jain, with respect to this change in management structure at your company, why did you undertake it?
Jain: There`s really no change here. What we really needed was more bandwidth as the company was growing, we just needed to figure out how to create 48 hours in a 24 hour day. You see the titles that mean nothing. We will work as a team, we will backfill each other and work as a team, so in some sense nothing changed other than from the outside perspective of what you`re telling me, really we work as a team, it`s going to be just 48 hours out of 24 hours.
Ron: Mr. Sarin, given you have 48 hours in a day, what are the bowls that you`ll have to tackle in that extended time window?
Sarin: Well, in that extended time window, we have to win market share in europe, in asia, and in latin america. We have very good market share here in the united states and obviously we will satisfy customers here on an ongoing basis. We need to find new ways of leveraging our core technology. We have some excellent server data base application technology that powers cell.........
........license in los angeles to 124 billion dollar company in in 25 countries and i have been known to be the person on the internet that actually figured out what was going on. So with the convergence of wireless and the internet bringing everything together to bring the fusion bomb and the growth will be phenomenal. There will be billions of cell phones, television, non-pc device that`s infospace provides the services for, generating 1 to 3 dollars per subscriber per monday, a tremendous amount of revenue as arun talks to colleagues and signs up every single wireless carrier with 100% market share in europe, asia, latin america, u.S., It`s going to be unbelievable company.
Ron: Well, hopefully when you fuse wireless and internet, it will be more than hydrogen and oxygen because you only end up with water when do you that. Good luck, thanks for being with us, appreciate you both taking the time.

InfoSpace Lands a New Pilot
By Cory Johnson
SAN FRANCISCO
If there`s a wilder CEO than InfoSpace`s Naveen Jain, I haven`t met him. After a recent story I wrote about Redmond, Wash.-based InfoSpace, Jain called me repeatedly from any number of continents, emailed me as late as 11 at night and as early as 7 the next morning. He`d hard to understand, talking a mile a minute, but his verve is infectious -- he appears to have the energy of two men. Maybe all that coffee up there.
But as impossible as it seems, the Infospace executive suite is about to get even more energy. Arun Sarin, who served as CEO of Vodafone AirTouch`s U.S. and Asia-Pacific operations, has joined InfoSpace as CEO. Jain, the founder, will keep the chairman title and add chief strategist to his business card.
"I work 20 hours a day, man," Jain says. "Really, I prayed to the God and asked him how I could have more than 24 hours a day. And one day, He said to me, hire a guy who is smarter than you, who works just as hard as you, and you`ll have a 48-hour day. And then the God brought me Arun."
Sarin will have to work hard to keep up with Jain, but Jain had to work hard to land Sarin. Sarin largely built San Francisco-based Airtouch from a single-license cell-phone carrier into a global telecommunications company in two dozen countries. After the merger of Airtouch and Vodafone, he was a key player in the subsequent push to land Mannesman. He`s a big shot`s big shot; a director of Cisco and Charles Schwab.
So after Jain met Sarin at a February press conference, the next morning he began a campaign of phone calls and emails to Sarin. "Naveen kept coming up and bugging me," says Sarin. "This is classic Naveen, he comes at you and at you and at you. ... I`m 45, there`s a time in life when you have done what you`re going to do; it`s time to really take a bigger chance."
Sarin joins InfoSpace at an opportune time, in part because his stock options priced on Monday, when InfoSpace closed at 45 7/16, its lowest close in more than three months. "This had nothing to do with the stock price," says Jain, who says he owns 65 million shares of the company. "This has been in the works for months and, really, when you look at InfoSpace a few years from now, the stock difference between now and a month ago will be a rounding error. Whether it`s at $45 or $100, it won`t matter when the stock is at $500." The specifics of Sarin`s pay package weren`t disclosed.
Sarin, who lives in the tony San Francisco suburb of Piedmont with his wife, Rummi, a daughter, 15, and son, 10, won`t immediately relocate to Redmond. "They`re not thrilled about it," he says. "But I`m going to be spending more time on United Airlines than anywhere else."
InfoSpace-Time Continuum
InfoSpace.com`s quarterly revenue has grown 1,314% in just two years.
InfoSpace is literally being transformed from a dot-com to a wholesale wireless information company; it dropped dot-com from its name seven weeks ago, and, according to Jain, will derive more than a third of its earnings from wireless this year. The company is growing at a blowout pace. But Sarin brings a telecommunications expertise that Jain simply didn`t have.
"I know everybody in the Internet world," says Jain. "And Arun knows everybody in telecommunications all over the world. So he`ll keep doing what he`s been doing in telecommunications, and I`ll keep doing in Internet and we will win. InfoSpace is an arms dealer, no matter who wins -- AOL, Yahoo!, Palm, wireless or Web -- we win."

Key Points:
1. InfoSpace announced before market open yesterday that it hired Arun Sarin to be CEO, while Naveen Jain maintained the Chairman role and added the title of Chief Strategist.
2. Mr. Arun is well-known to the investment community as CEO, US/Asia Pacific Regions of Vodafone/Airtouch, and head of Vodafone`s Global Internet business. He serves on the Board of Directors of Vodafone, Cisco and Charles Schwab Corp.
3. Mr. Sarin`s hiring adds high-level firepower and execution capacity for InfoSpace, particularly in the extension of INSP`s current mobile commerce & information services to European, Latin American and Asian markets.
4. Mr. Sarin outlined a clear near-term strategy during the conference call, centered around expansion of wireless services market share, continued efforts to attract top management talent and leveraging INSP`s core technology platform ("expanding pillars") into new markets.
5. Naveen Jain added that INSP`s business continues to scale rapidly, and early indicators point to subscriber adoption rates of InfoSpace-powered mobile commerce services that are running ahead of plan. INSP reports Q1:00 results on Wednesday, April 26th after market close.
6. We reiterate our Strong Buy rating on InfoSpace and 12-month target price of $155.
Discussion
We believe that the hiring of Vodafone/Airtouch CEO Arun Sarin as CEO of InfoSpace represents a coup, and a major step towards building the vision, credibility and execution capacity of this company to be a leader in next-generation Internet services. We believe this hiring also sheds further light on just how far InfoSpace has come in terms of building a wireless services portfolio that is both sought after and recognized as "best of breed" by opinion leaders such as Mr. Sarin.
Aspects of Mr. Sarin`s background that we highlight as particularly relevant are his experience as head of Vodafone`s Global Wireless Internet division, as well as his direct involvement in building Airtouch`s international business (he was President/CEO of Airtouch Int`l. from 1995- 97). He was also a key executive (multiple posts) in building Pacific Telesis with Sam Ginn from 1984-1994, virtually since the inception of the cellular industry. As a seasoned veteran of managing high-growth businesses, Mr. Sarin also brings an element of financial discipline and shareholder value-creation focus that we believe will be appreciated by investors. We see upside over the next 12 months to $155 for INSP.
Investment Thesis:
InfoSpace provides a growing arsenal of Internet commerce, communication and information services to a vast affiliate network of wireless carriers, portals and merchants worldwide. INSP arms its affiliates with the tools needed to differentiate their own web service offerings while harnessing the transactive power of the Internet to create new revenue streams. Having shrewdly positioned itself as a device-agnostic, unbranded commerce and communications "enabler", INSP is poised to grow in correlation with
the explosion in online transactions via PC`s and mobile devices. Central to our investment thesis is InfoSpace`s opportunity to penetrate three massive markets: 1) transaction volume generated by 10MM offline merchants in the US, which represented $3.7 trillion in 1999, 2) web advertising and promotions, which are expected to surpass $33B by 2004E, and 3) mobile commerce, which is forecast to boom as 50% of the world`s one billion wireless subscribers are web-enabled by 2003. As the Internet rapidly extends into the broadband and mobile universe, we believe that all web-based businesses must think "beyond the PC" or risk an accelerated marginalization. On the flipside, however, is the likelihood that hundreds of billions, if not trillions, of new market capitalization will be created by companies successfully navigating this transition. InfoSpace is one such company and should be a core Internet holding.

Hi
@ VentureCapital:

Survey: Three-Fourths of U.S. Internet Population to Use Wireless Data Applications by 2001
16:07 PM GMT on Apr 18, 2000
The number of individuals using cell phones for wireless data applications among the U.S. Internet population is set to increase from the current three percent to an estimated seventy-eight percent in the next twelve months, according to research by the strategic research group within the E-Business Unit (EBU) of Cap Gemini America and Corechange, Inc., a global provider of enterprise information (EIP), Business-to-Business (B2B), and Business-to-Mobile (B2M(TM)) portals.
Presently, one third of the U.S. Internet population uses cell phones for business purposes. Of this group, only eleven percent are currently using them for data applications, representing merely three percent of the entire population. In this research, wireless data applications entail using a cell phone to send and receive email or business/personal information.
Apart from the astonishing potential, a key finding of this research is that forty-seven percent of the future users explained that the primary reason for using wireless data applications is that someone else (i.e. the employer) pays for it. This was by far the most important reason. Consequently, market growth will initially be driven by corporate initiatives rather than consumer demand.
"The wireless data application market will probably not take off until major corporations start putting integrated PC and wireless PDA (e.g. cell phones and Palm Pilots) application structures in place - and fully cover the costs for operating them," explains David Ridemar, head of the strategic research group of Cap Gemini America`s EBU. "In order for these initiatives to be successful, wireless business data applications have to be a natural part of the company`s Intranet corporate portal, making it effortless for employees to switch from a PC to a cell phone to a Palm Pilot, using the same business information and level of functionality."
The research also indicates that this is a market for heavy users; seventy percent of the present users use wireless data applications on their cell phones at least once a day and sixty percent use it for at least 1-3 minutes per occasion. In the future, eighty-eight percent will use it at least once a day and nineteen percent will use it more than three times a day. Sixty-six percent will use it more than three minutes every time. This indicates an enormous growth in wireless data traffic.
A large part of the population prefers to use the wireless data applications for a number of purposes. Fifty-two percent explained that they will use the functionality for a mix of email, personal data and business information, twenty-four percent will use it for email and personal data and thirteen percent will use it for email only. Hence, the corporate wireless data structures have to allow for both personal and business needs.
"The research concludes that with the right corporate initiatives, this technology unleashes new types of demand and growth," said Ulf Arnetz, CEO and founder of Boston-based Corechange, Inc. "Just think about the untapped potential in the U.S., Europe and Asia from suddenly making it possible for employees to access business information that previously was not accessible due to lack of local IT infrastructure."

InfoSpace Launches New Mobile Commerce Service That Turns Mobile Devices Into True Transaction Devices
InfoSpace Acquires IQorder.com to Facilitate and Accelerate the Growth Of Mobile Commerce by Allowing Consumers to Enter in a Model Number, UPC Code, Part Number, Barcode or ISBN or to Even Scan in a UPC Code to Accurately Locate a Product, Compare Prices and Make an Instant Purchase With A Single Click
REDMOND, Wash., April 25 /PRNewswire/ -- InfoSpace, Inc. (Nasdaq: INSP), a leading worldwide provider of infrastructure services for wireless carriers, merchants and Web sites, today announced that it will offer wireless carriers the ability for wireless shoppers or the traditional shopper to enter anything that is known about an item -- such as model number, part number, barcode, ISBN, product name or even scan in a UPC code -- to uniquely and most accurately locate a product, comparison shop and purchase "when they want, where they want and how they want" with a single click via cellular phones, land-line telephones, CE or palm devices, two-way pagers and standard browsers.

InfoSpace already works with traditional brick and mortar stores to incorporate their product and pricing database and real-time inventory information. With this enhanced functionality, InfoSpace will be able to locate the desired product from within a proprietary 100+ million database in addition to virtually any Web site, then "shops" for price and availability from its network of thousands of e-tailers, clicks & mortar, and bricks & mortar merchant partners. The consumer then has the freedom to select the merchant he/she wants to buy from, and with a single click make an instant purchase online or visit the nearest store.
This will also enable shoppers to act immediately when they see a product in a physical store by using their device to get more information, compare prices, buy the item or save the product information for future reference. It`s the latest example of how information and commerce is converging.
Consumers will be able to pull product information -- reviews, prices, and purchasing options -- using mobile devices while they are strolling the aisles of their local brick and mortar stores. One shopper may find the same laptop computer for $500 less on the Internet, decide it`s worth waiting for the delivery and order it online, right there from the sales floor, with a single click. This will allow everyone to be able to use their mobile devices as a point-of-sale device to research, order, and buy. The combination of this technology with InfoSpace`s promotions technology will also enable users to electronically receive contextual promotions that can be used online or offline in physical stores.
"Sixty-five percent of all Internet consumers abandon their Internet shopping carts due to frustrations with the cumbersome task of filling out forms and shipping info," said Naveen Jain, chairman, InfoSpace. "To make mobile commerce work and really make it successful, it is imperative that these services are easy to use and beneficial to do business on a mobile device. Being able to find specific products using standards-based codes and make a purchase with a single click from any device is part of the platform that will propel the growth and usage in this area."
InfoSpace has established relationships with more than 24 wireless carriers worldwide. In addition, InfoSpace offers millions of local merchants a comprehensive and integrated platform of merchant services that are used by all five regional bell operating companies- BellSouth, SBC, BellAtlantic, USWest and GTE, leading merchant banks including American Express and Bank of America and other local media networks. The powerful combination of bringing merchants to mobile users will also help to facilitate and accelerate the growth of mobile commerce.
"The opportunity could be enormous," said Mark Plakias, an analyst at the Kelsey Group. He recently estimated that local advertising via wireless media should grow to $6.8 billion by 2005 and that information from wireless directories and shopping services could influence 1 billion store purchases in 5 years.
The new mobile commerce service will also offer wish lists, pricing alerts and price history capabilities along with, "friendly reminders," that keep track of events such as birthdays and anniversaries and anything the user enters, including medication times, appointments, etc. The user controls how much information they receive.
"There is a rapidly shifting market in 2000 for business. We think that wireless carriers, merchants and enterprises that don`t invest in these types of applications are going to find themselves made obsolete," continued Jain.
Under the terms of the acquisition, which will be accounted for as a purchase, InfoSpace will acquire all of IQorder.com`s outstanding securities in exchange for $58 million in InfoSpace Common Stock subject to adjustment based on the average closing price of InfoSpace Common Stock on the Nasdaq National Market for the five trading days preceding the closing. The acquisition is expected to be completed in Q2 2000, and is subject to customary conditions, including the receipt of regulatory approval and IQorder.com shareholder approval.
