CLP acquires 49% stake in Suzlon’s Telangana PV project, plans 132MW plant in Haryana

Power firm CLP India, a subsidiary of CLP Holdings, and renewables firm Suzlon Group have entered into a joint venture over a 100MW solar project at Veltoor in the Indian state of Telangana.
At a cost of INR735 million (US$10.9 million), CLP acquired a 49% stake in SE Solar, which is a special purpose vehicle set up by Suzlon for solar energy activities. CLP now also has the option to acquire the balance 51% one year after the date of commercial operation of the plant.
The project is expected to be commissioned by May 2017 and will be funded by 80% debt and 20% equity. It includes a 25-year power purchase agreement with Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company at a fixed tariff of INR5.59/kWh.
Through auction processes, Suzlon also has a 50MW and four 15MW solar projects in its Telangana pipeline.
The acquisition helps CLP to meet its target of having 20% of its power generation coming from renewables by 2020.
CLP has also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the state government of Haryana to set up a 132MW solar project at its Jhajjar coal-fired power station.
Rajiv Mishra, managing director of CLP India, said: “We have been keen to invest in solar in India to complement our wind portfolio. We believe that the state of Telangana has a favourable solar policy, which creates a conducive environment for us.”
CLP now has a committed capacity of 1.1GW of wind and solar across India.

CLP Power proposes offshore LNG terminal for Hong Kong
CLP Power Hong Kong on Saturday informed it is taking forward the development work to build an offshore LNG terminal in Hong Kong waters. The proposal comes as a response to the government’s policy to increase the use of natural gas in power generation by 2020, the company said in a statement.
To further study whether the proposed project can serve as a potential gas supply option to meet Hong Kong’s future fuel supply needs, CLP Power and the Hongkong Electric have agreed to jointly explore the feasibility of siting an offshore LNG import terminal in Hong Kong waters based on the floating storage regasification technology.
Currently, the Second West-East gas pipeline and gas sources in the South China Sea via subsea pipelines are the main sources of natural gas for CLP Power.
The proposal has been submitted to the Environmental Protection Department, the utility, a unit of CLP Holdings said.
CLP Power Senior Director Commercial Edward Chiu said, “An offshore LNG terminal is particularly suitable for Hong Kong as it occupies no land space. The construction is also simpler, cheaper, and it takes less time to build compared to a land-based terminal, hence less impact on the environment due to its small size and remote location.”
Waters east of the Soko Islands have been selected as the preferred location for the terminal and a detailed environmental impact assessment study will be carried out to examine the impacts of the offshore LNG terminal on the environment and marine ecology during the construction and operation phases.

Ups, beim nick vertippt desma statt desam.

[I-bank focus] CLP's (00002) Australian deals 4% accretive
Citigroup estimated that CLP's (00002) potential
acquisition of power retailing asset Energy Australia & the power generating asset Delta
Western, would add HK$389m pa to its net profit, equal to 4% of FY11 net profit.
The deal would raise its Australian market share from 10-12% to 20-21% and make it more
attractive to spin off its assets there locally with larger scale.
Gearing of TRUenergy would rise from 45% to 100%.
The house maintained its "hold" call and HK$67 target on CLP. (KL)

CLP's (HKG:0002) 1st wholly-owned wind farm in PRC begins operation
[Date:10-25-2010] Source: Infocast News RSS Feed
CLP Holdings (HKG:0002) announced the official commissioning of its first wholly-owned wind farm in Mainland China - Phase I of Qian'an Wind Farm in Songyuan City, Jilin Province. The project was developed and constructed by CLP. Phase I of the project has a generation capacity of 49.5 MW.
With 33 wind turbines of 1.5 MW each installed, Phase 1 is designed to provide annual electricity output of 124 million kWh and help reduce 127,000 tonnes of carbon emissions each year.
Peter Tse, CLP's Group Executive Director and Chairman of China Business, said the project underscores the group's strong commitment to having 20% of its generating capacity from non-carbon emitting power across the Asia Pacific region by 2020, an interim target outlined in its Climate Vision 2050.
Currently, CLP has interests in over 60 renewable energy projects covering wind, hydro, biomass and solar power generation, in Australia, China, India and Southeast Asia. With an equity capacity of more than 2,000 MW, the renewables portfolio accounts for over 15% of the CLP Group's total generation capacity.
