Seit langer Zeit auf meiner Watchlist: Cudeco, eine der meist diskutierten Aktien in Australien deren Hauptprojekt unglaubliche Kupferreseven 2,27 Milliarden (!) lbs Copper Metal Eq. 
Cudeco will 2012 mit 3 Millionen tonnen Kupfer in Produktion gehen.

Und da scheint auch ein Problem der Firma zu liegen: sie gibt zu viel Geld aus und nimmt noch nichts ein.
Jedenfalls hat sich der Kurs im August mehr als halbiert als in einem australischen Forum Gerüchte aufkamen, die anstehende BFS sei noch nicht sicher und die Ressourcenschätzungen, die für so viel Fantasie gesorgt hatten seien überzogen.

In HC gibt es immer noch Diskussionen über die Interpretation der JORC-Studie.
Offenbar gibt der sog. Kupfer hot spot, auf dem CDU sitzt, und dessen Verwertbarkeit Anlaß für unterschiedlichste Interpretationen.
Die Erwartungen gingen ja von einem durchschnittl. Kupfergehalt von mindestens 2 % aus !
Jetzt sind es lt. JORC "nur" ca. 1,1 %. Damit wäre das Vorkommen, wenn es denn produziert lt. Aussage in HC, als open-pit-Mine an 2. Stelle in Australien, was den CU-Gehalt angeht. Also immer noch ein Weltklasse-Vorkommen !
Ich habe nie begriffen warum das Papier in D keine Beachtung gefunden hat. Bei w:o wird dochj sonst jede pennystock-Sau durch Dorf getrieben. Wahrscheinlich liegt der Grund im Kurswert.
Ich habe die Aktie bei sharewise.com empfohlen, weil ich von dem Wert überzeugt war und bin.
Durch den Kurssturz habe ich 5-stellig auf die Ömme bekommen ...

Die Chinesen sind bereits am Ball (Sinostreel, die Finanzierung der Miene ohne größe Verwässerung sollte klappen.

Cudeco hat 136.260.144 shares, also ne MCAP von rund 200 Mio. Euro derzeit.
36 Mio AUD Cash sind noch vorhanden.
Im letzten Quartal hat die Firma 2,763 Mio AUD für "exploration and evaluation" und knapp 950.000 AUD für administration ausgegeben.

klingt fürs erste sehr interessant. aber wie sieht es den mit der finanzierung aus. wenn man bedenkt, dass sie 2012 in produktion gehen wollen, dann müsste die finanzierung stehen oder müsste bald folgen.
Zudem soll ja nicht 3.000.000mio kupfer produziert werden, sondern 3.000.000 * 0,0124 = ca. 300miodollar umsatz. wenn ich das richtig verstanden habe.

tut mir leid, dass es Dich hier erwischt hat. Da ich davon ausgehe, dass Du mit Cudeco nicht "all in" warst, kannst Du das vermutlich verkraften.
Wenn man den Hype auf Hotcopper verfolgt hat, konnte das allerdings kaum gut gehen. Wie immer halt, wenn sich tausende von "future millionaires" treffen..
Ich taste mich immer vorsichtiger an die Explorer ran.
Da die Mcap unter dem geplanten Jahresumsatz für 2012 liegt,
erscheint das Unternehmen jetzt relativ fair bewertet.
Allerdings kann der Kupferpreis auch schnell mal in den Bereich 5.000-6.000 $-Bereich korrigieren. Das ist nur ein Risiko.
Möglich, dass die BFS jetzt durch die JORC-Zahlen korrigiert werden muss.
Verwässerung ist natürlich - wie immer - auch noch ein Thema. Wenn Sinosteel das Hauptrisiko trägt, dann werden die entsprechende Ansprüche stellen.
Hast Du eine Hausnummer, welche Kosten bez. des Minenbaus bis zur Produktion noch anfallen?
Bin am überlegen, mit ner kleinen Position reinzugehen, befürchte aber, dass die Fantasie neben dem Vertrauen noch mal schwinden könnte, wenn Genaueres über die Finanzierung bekannt wird.
So war es z.B. bei Moly Mines. Jahrelang wartete man auf die Finanzierung und als die Chinesen grünes Licht gaben, ging es erst mal runter weil plötzlich 360 Millionen shares draussen waren. Das ist natürlich irrational, gehört aber zur Psychologie von Explorer-Investments, die immer wieder irrationale Niveaus erreichen weil die Realitäten einfach ausgeblendet werden.
Moly Mines erscheint mir ganz geeignet als Bewertungs-Benchmark. Ähnliches Potenzial und Produktionziel im Hauptprojekt mit dem Unterschied, dass MOL in Kürze positiven Cash-Flow mit der Erz-Mine generiert.
Freue mich jedoch, diesen Thread eröffnet zu haben und sich hier in Ruhe austauschen zu können. Auf HC kommt man ja nicht mehr mit.

Wenn man mit einem Wert >50% im Minus ist, beurteilt man einen Wert ganz anders, als wenn man ihn auf der WL hat. Sollte nicht so sein, ist aber so.

... In each of the 3 valuation cases, MPS assume CuDeco will mine the
high grade zone first over 3‐4 years. MPS also make no allowance
for site rehabilitation costs at the end of LoM as these costs are
likely to be in the vicinity of the sale price of plant and equipment
which MPS also make no allowance for.
MPS expects the likely scenario to be that the RC holes have been
underreporting true grade. As such, MPS view the base case +40%
grade adjustment scenario as our best estimate of the Rocklands
deposit. MPS also attributes no value to the high grade results
coming from the Wilgar prospect. With further exploration, this
prospect is likely to materially add to total resources and the
valuation attached to Rocklands.
Our optimistic case assumes an average grade over the LoM of
2%. MPS still views this as a possible case as CuDeco has reported
large intercepts of high grade chalcocite and native copper. For the
reasons discussed earlier, the JORC may have substantially
understated these zones. It is anticipated CuDeco will mine these
high grade zones first which could substantially add to the early

The Outlook for Copper
The financial crisis experienced in 2008/09 saw copper drop to a
low of US$4,000/t. Since then, copper has rebounded strongly and
currently sits at US$7600/t (US$3.45/lb).
Copper usage follows the industrial and energy sectors and is
required for use in construction, infrastructure, power generation
and in almost all electronics. Recent US housing market woes
played on the minds of the misinformed market participants as the
market fundamentals for copper remains very bullish.
Demand for the metal is mainly being driven from China, which
imports ~70% of its copper, and with other Asian countries account
for ~55% of global consumption against ~10% for the US.ing an average LoM Cu grade of 2%.

The reverse circulation drills are all truck mounted and so must have good road access to the drill site therefore are no good for remote drill camps. The rock chips created by the drill bit are delivered to the surface generally in the order in which they are produced but not always. Therefore, RC drilling is not as accurate as diamond drilling. There is no way of knowing with certainty where the chips are from. Also there is a tendency for heavier minerals (eg gold) to fall to the bottom of the hole or be caught in elbows and curves in the drill pipe. As a result, assays from RC drill samples may understate the amount of mineralization present in the rock.
Nevertheless the relatively higher speed and low cost of RC drilling makes it a popular method for obtaining mineral samples for assaying.

Cudeco has brought aboard an institutional investor in a $20 million capital raising it hopes will stabilise "recent volatility" in the stock.
The company, which is developing the Rocklands copper project near Cloncurry, yesterday said it had placed 10 million new shares at $2 each to a single institutional investor.
With the new shareholder, which has British and US offices, now holding 6.84 per cent of Cudeco, its identity should be revealed to the stockmarket in coming days.
But the company was tight-lipped yesterday at the investor's request, revealing only that it was an institutional global resource investor that was a client of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.
Perth boutique investment bank Azure Capital is the lead manager for the placement.
Cudeco's shares suffered a 64 per cent slump in the four trading days from August 18 after a resource upgrade disappointed the market, wiping $420m from the company's market value
Shares have since slightly recovered from the $1.705 they hit on August 23 and yesterday rose 11c, or 5 per cent, to $2.19 on the news of the new investor and the raising. "Azure identified that Cudeco's share register is currently dominated by retail investors and that this has contributed in part to the recent volatility in the share price," Cudeco boss Wayne McCrae said.
"Addressing this imbalance by introducing a substantial institutional investor would assist in stabilising the company's share price."
Mr McRae said the completion of the placement would place the company in a strong financial position to continue its progress towards the development of its Rocklands copper project, where he was still targeting 2012 production. "This injection . . . will put Cudeco in a strong position to negotiate project finance upon completion of the definitive feasibility study," Mr McCrae said.

CuDECO ENTERS FINAL STAGE FOR THE GRANTING OF ITS MINING LEASES
CuDeco Ltd wishes to advise that it has received the Draft Environmental Authority (EA) which has been issued by the Department of Environment and Resource Management (DERM) to the Department of Employment Economic Development and Innovation (DEEDI) for advertising of the Public Notice of Application for Mining Lease and Environmental Authority.
The public notice period is for 20 business days after which the submission is considered by DEEDI for the granting of the Mining Leases (ML)’s for the Rocklands Group Copper Project.
The Company is very excited about entering this final phase of approvals to commence the project.

ich bin ja eher in copper mountain drin
Lt. ASIC sind per 28.11. rd. 1,9 Mio Aktien als Shortpositionen verliehen.
Bei einer Rückgabe an die Verleiher dürfte es nicht einfach sein, diese am Markt zurückzukaufen, ohne den Kurs weiter nach oben zu treiben.

CuDeco raises $32m for copper project
CuDeco will raise $32 million for its Rocklands copper project in a share placement agreement with UK-based M&G Investments, the company announced today.
The agreement allows for the subscription of 8 million shares at $4 per share.
Completion of the placement is subject to shareholder approval at an EGM to be held early next year.
Perth-based Azure Capital acted as corporate adviser and lead manager in relation to the placement.
CuDeco said the funds would be utilised for the construction and fabrication of the Rocklands Project in Cloncurry, Queensland.
CuDeco shares were up 6 cents to $4.23 at 12.28pm WST today.

Anstelle eines Discounts hat M&G - wie schon die anderen Großinvestoren - also eine Prämie auf den damaligen Kurs bezahlt...

Ich hoffe, zum EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING am 20.01.2012 werden richtungsweisende (Bohr-)ergebnisse veröffentlicht, damit CUDECO wieder Dampf aufnehmen kann.
